Sony SRS-XB12 (2019)
Vifa Oslo (2016)
See Top Ranked Portable Bluetooth Speakers

Sony SRS-XB10 Series (2019) vs Vifa Oslo (2016)

Analysis:

The Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) makes for a good, if unremarkable, Portable Bluetooth Speaker for people with a $40 budget.

The Vifa Oslo (2016), however, is merely mediocre at its $499 asking price, when compared to similarly priced products, and won't satisfy the needs of most people.

In either case, we suggest that you first take a look at some other options at the $40 and $360 price points before committing to one of these - it's likely that you'll be able to find some better alternatives.

If you're still interested in learning more about the Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) and Vifa Oslo (2016), however, we wrote a summary of what we could find about them:

The Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) has managed to impress reviewers from some of the most highly trusted sources on the internet, including CNET and PCmag. It performed great in their in-depth hands-on roundups - it was awarded the "Best mini canister-style speaker" title by CNET and "Best for Outdoor-Friendly Audio" by PCmag in their respective Portable Bluetooth Speaker roundups. That's high praise, especially when coming from such high-quality sources.

Taking a look at the Vifa Oslo (2016), it got featured in roundups from two reliable sources that conduct their own testing - PCmag and Wirecutter (NYTimes) - but it fell short of earning a top spot in either.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two Portable Bluetooth Speakers best and found that the Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) got its highest, 8, review score from reviewers at PCmag, whereas the Vifa Oslo (2016) earned its best score of 8 from TechHive.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Portable Bluetooth Speakers on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Portable Bluetooth Speakers being 7.6 out of 10, whereas the Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) and Vifa Oslo (2016) managed averages of 8.0 and 8.0 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Sony SRS-XB12 (2019) vs. Vifa Oslo (2016) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
