Sony 900 series (2018) vs Vizio V-Series (2019)
The Sony X900 85" (2018) was loved by reviewers at CNET, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Your Super Bowl party deserves one of these 70- or 75-inch TVs" roundup where it was named its "Alternate (brand) 75-inch (and 85-inch!) pick", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Vizio V-Series 70", it wasn't able to earn a top spot in any roundups from trusted sources that conduct their own hands-on testing. Nevertheless, it managed to impress reviewers at Tom's Guide, CNET, Rtings, and Android Authority enough to make it onto their respective shortlists.
To get a better idea of how they fare when compared directly to each other, we analyzed review scores of sources that tested both. CNET and Rtings, for example, preferred the Sony X900 85" (2018), while Tom's Guide rated both of them the same.
We also took a look at which sources had the best things to say about them. We learned that the Sony X900 85" (2018) got reviewed the highest by What Hi-Fi? - it gave it a rating of 10, while the Vizio V-Series 70" most impressed reviewers at Tom's Guide, which gave it a score of 8.
Lastly, we averaged out all of their review ratings and observed that the Sony X900 85" (2018), with its 8.2 average, performed considerably better than most TVs - the mean score for the product category being 7.7 out of 10 - while the Vizio V-Series 70" managed an average of 7.0.
There's one caveat here - it might not be entirely justifiable to do a direct Sony X900 85" (2018) vs. Vizio V-Series 70" review average comparison since they aren't priced the same and more expensive products tend to get higher review scores from some sources.
