Intel Optane Series 905P (2018) vs Western Digital Black SN750 SSD

Analysis:

The Intel Optane SSD 905P 2.5" 480GB is an exemplary product and one of the very best Internal SSDs at the $610 budget.

The Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, however, doesn't seem to have enough data available for us to be able to draw any meaningful conclusions.

The Intel Optane SSD 905P 2.5" 480GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Desktop Upgraders Seeking Max Speed", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB - it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a great source that's known for conducting high-quality in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Hardcore Gamers, Media Editors", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Internal SSDs, Tom's Hardware preferred the Intel Optane SSD 905P 2.5" 480GB, whereas reviewers at PCGamesN liked the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB better. PCWorld and PCmag gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Intel Optane SSD 905P 2.5" 480GB rating came from TrustedReviews, whereas the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB most impressed reviewers at Techradar; they earned scores of 9 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Intel Optane SSD 905P 2.5" 480GB and Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB managed averages of 8.6 and 8.7 points, respectively.
