Samsung 850 EVO Series SSDs vs Western Digital Black SN750 SSD

Analysis:

The Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB is an example of a great Internal SSD at its $130 budget.

In the case of the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

The Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB was loved by reviewers at Laptop Mag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Newegg Deals" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 5", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best SSDs for Upgrading Your Laptop in 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Hardcore Gamers, Media Editors", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Internal SSDs, TechSpot preferred the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB, whereas reviewers at Techradar and PCWorld liked the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB better. PCmag gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB rating came from TechSpot, whereas the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB most impressed reviewers at Techradar; they earned scores of 9.2 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB and Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB managed averages of 8.5 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung 850 EVO 2.5" 500GB vs. Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
