Samsung 960 Pro Series SSDs vs Western Digital Black SN750 SSD

Analysis:

The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB is an example of a great Internal SSD at its $310 budget.

In the case of the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, however, we weren't able to find enough data to come to any reliable conclusions.

The Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB was loved by reviewers at Laptop Mag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "Best Laptop SSDs - Internal & External Hard Drive Upgrades" roundup where it was named its "Best High-Performance SSD", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

As for the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, it was really well-received by reviewers at PCmag, a reliable source that's known for conducting its own, high-quality, in-depth testing. It performed great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup and was named its "Best for Hardcore Gamers, Media Editors", which, on its own, makes it a product that warrants a closer look.

We analyzed all of the review data that we could find on these two Internal SSDs. First, we examined sources that tested and scored both of these products - Techradar and TechSpot favored the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB over the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB, whereas reviewers at PCWorld haven't shown a preference for either.

Then we took a look at which sources liked them the most - we found that the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB was best received by Expert Reviews - it gave it a score of 10, whereas the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB got its highest score of 10 from reviewers at Techradar.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB and Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB managed averages of 9.1 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung SSD 960 Pro 1TB vs. Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
