Samsung 970 EVO Plus Series SSDs vs Western Digital Black SN750 SSD

Analysis:

The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB is an exemplary product and one of the very best Internal SSDs at the $130 budget.

The Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, however, doesn't seem to have enough data available for us to be able to draw any meaningful conclusions.

The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup where it was named its "Best for Performance-Minded Upgraders", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB, PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for Hardcore Gamers, Media Editors" in its "The Best PCI Express NVMe Solid State Drives (SSDs) for 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Internal SSDs, Tom's Hardware preferred the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB, whereas reviewers at TechSpot and PCWorld liked the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB better. Techradar, PCGamesN, and PCmag gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB rating came from Techradar, whereas the Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB most impressed reviewers at Techradar; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Internal SSDs on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Internal SSDs being 7.8 out of 10, whereas the Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB and Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB managed averages of 8.7 and 8.7 points, respectively.

Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 500GB vs. Western Digital SSD Black SN750 250GB comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
