The Xerox XD-Combo (2019) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best Scanners for 2021" roundup where it was named its "Best for Combined Flatbed and Sheetfed Scanning", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.
As for the Epson Perfection V800 (2014) - it impressed reviewers at Windows Central, a trustworthy source that conducts solid hands-on testing. It did great in its "Best Photo Scanners in 2021" roundup - in fact, it earned its "Ranked 3 out of 6" title, which, on its own, indicates a certain level of quality.
We conducted an analysis of all of the review data that we could find on these two products. First, we focused on sources that tested and rated both of them, like PCmag, and learned that they all showed a preference for the Epson Perfection V800 (2014).
Then we took a look at the highest review scores that these two Flatbed Scanners received. We found that the Xerox XD-Combo (2019) managed to earn a rating of 8 from PCmag, whereas the Epson Perfection V800 (2014) got its highest, 9, score from reviewers at PCmag.
Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Flatbed Scanners on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Flatbed Scanners being 7.4 out of 10, whereas the Xerox XD-Combo (2019) and Epson Perfection V800 (2014) managed averages of 8.0 and 9.0 points, respectively.
Due to the difference in their prices, however, it's important to keep in mind that a direct Xerox XD-Combo (2019) vs. Epson Perfection V800 (2014) comparison might not be entirely fair - some sources don't take value for money into account when assigning their scores and therefore have a tendency to rate more premium products better.
