Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019) vs Google Pixel 3a / Pixel 3a XL (2019)

The Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019) was loved by reviewers at PCmag, a highly trusted source that performs reliable in-depth testing. It did great in its "The Best MWC Phones You Can't Buy in the US" roundup where it was named its "Ranked 1 out of 7", which, in itself, makes it a product worth considering.

Returning to the Google Pixel 3a (2019), it managed to impress reviewers from some of the internet's most highly trusted sources, CNET and Tom's Guide. It performed great in their hands-on roundups - it was named "Ranked 3 out of 6" by CNET and "Ranked 3 out of 10" by Tom's Guide. That's quite an achievement, especially coming from such high-quality sources.

Out of the sources that tested and rated both of these Smartphones, TrustedReviews, Android Authority, and DXOMARK preferred the Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019), whereas reviewers at PhoneArena liked the Google Pixel 3a (2019) better. Expert Reviews, Techradar, and T3 gave them identical review scores.

We also took a look at which sources liked these products best - the highest Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019) rating came from TrustedReviews, whereas the Google Pixel 3a (2019) most impressed reviewers at Expert Reviews; they earned scores of 10 and 10, respectively.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other Smartphones on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by Smartphones being 7.5 out of 10, whereas the Xiaomi Mi 9 (2019) and Google Pixel 3a (2019) managed averages of 8.9 and 8.6 points, respectively.
