The Ricoh Theta V (2017) has impressed reviewers from two sources that are among the most highly trusted on the internet, namely Wirecutter (NYTimes) and PCmag. It did great in their objective hands-on roundups - it earned the "Runner Up" and "Best for Photos" awards from Wirecutter (NYTimes) and PCmag, respectively. That's high praise from such reputable sources.

Returning to the Yi 360 VR (2017), PCmag, a source that's known for its high-quality in-depth testing, has great things to say about it. In fact, it was named its "Best for 360 on a Budget" in its "The Best 360 Cameras for 2020" roundup, which is quite a feat.

We examined all of the review data that we could find and first took a look at sources that reviewed both of them, like PCmag, and found that they haven't shown a preference for either product.

Then we checked which sources liked these two 360-degree Cameras best and found that the Ricoh Theta V (2017) got its highest, 7, review score from reviewers at Threesixtycameras.com, whereas the Yi 360 VR (2017) earned its best score of 8 from Techradar.

Lastly, we averaged out all of the reviews scores that we could find on these two products and compared them to other 360-degree Cameras on the market. We learned that both of them performed far better than most of their competitors - the overall review average earned by 360-degree Cameras being 6.6 out of 10, whereas the Ricoh Theta V (2017) and Yi 360 VR (2017) managed averages of 7.0 and 7.3 points, respectively.
