IBM Model M Spacesaver Review
All of the positives of the standard IBM Model M, with the added benefit of a smaller footprint on your desk.
Pro Tacticle buckling-spring key switches
One of the most (if not the most) tactile and clicky switches available.
Pro Saves space by removing 10-keypad
The Spacesaver variant of the IBM Model M literally "saves space" by foregoing the 10-keypad. However, one can access a 10-keypad as secondary key functions by pressing Shift + NumLk/ScrLk.
Con Rare and Expensive
The Spacesaver variant of the IBM Model M is rarer and more expensive than the standard version. They can occasionally be found on eBay for several hundred dollars.
Con No Windows Key
The IBM Model M lacks a Windows key so you'll have to use a software solution, such as AutoHotKey, in order to regain its functionality.
Con PS2 Connector
Uses a PS2 connector, instead of USB. PS2 ports can be harder to find on modern computers, so a third-party adapter may be necessary.
