Hey, did you mean that it's a bonus?

Do you think the free version is enough for a personal computer? If for example Windows Defender + Malwarebytes free version, would it be enough protection?

That's enough for sure; the only good reason one would have for paying for antimalware would be corporate security, in which case I'd recommend BitDefender. Otherwise, Malwarebytes and common sense are good.

Thanks so much! This helps me a lot. :)

A couple of the programs being recommended are antimalware, not antivirus. Since antimalware is an umbrella term that includes antivirus, I've changed the title.

Hey, thanks for contributing to Slant. I am flagging this option for the time being because I could only find an Android app with this name, if you would be so kind as to provide the link for the PC application I will remove the flag :)

Oh man, that's nice. I don't really mind the up front work if it'll make things more smooth.

If you just want the antivirus tool, make sure you don't download the free suite. Just the windows avira antivirus tool. It still comes with the Connect application which is basically a real-time scanner and update manager where you can choose to download different components. The only difference is whether you get it all at once (the suite option) or you decide what to download, the so-called stand-alone version I linked to in this comment. I tried the suite because I thought the "stand-alone" version didn't include a real-time scanner. I was wrong.

Rephrased things as the primary link to Avira is going to the minimal install version where you add on what you want which is the better way to do it in my opinion.

Personally, I don't want the extras. Based on the pop-up and annoying prompts to install the addons in my browsers I will probably end up uninstalling and trying something else less intrusive. Antivirus is very much an intimate choice. What kind of security agent would you want to live with on a daily basis? =)

@adamlogan Hey, thanks for your addition! That's definitely good to know, it sounds pretty annoying.
