Pro Keeps track of multiple searches
Hipmunk also has a fantastic tab functionality that lets you keep track of multiple searches for both flights and hotels to help keep your planning organized.
Pro Fast and simple interface
Hipmunk provides a clean interface that's dense with visually well-presented information, not plastered with advertising. It uses a smart algorithm that automatically hides unwanted results, and ranks the rest by how much or little agony it will cause you. "Agony" is best explained by the sites co-founder Adam Goldstein:
A combined function of price, duration, and number of stops – basically the total agony you’ll experience in your butt and your savings.
This results in an experience that won't overwhelm you with pages of options to dig through to find the best option.
Hipmunk uses a timeline to visually show the differences between search results, and provides sliders to help narrow down results to just the ones that fit your schedule.
You can sort the flights by a price, duration, and airline, but the default ranking of "agony" is by far the superior option for finding the best flight.
Pro Handles complex searches
Supplementing the simple default interface are a variety of features to help you organise more complex trips, up to a 6-stop multi-city flight. When searching for flights you can also easily add a flexible range of suitable dates instead of having to search multiple times.
Pro Hotel search integration
Hipmunk has great hotel search as well, letting you find hotels by "Ecstasy" (an algorithm to the "Agony" sort for flight searches). It even provides you with local AirBnB listings, to save you time checking all the options when travelling.
Con USA only
Localization is pretty poor at this stage - Hipmunk is only available in English, with prices in US dollars.
Con Flexible date search is limited
Can only search flexible dates up to 3 days.
