You can 'pin' video conversations anywhere you'd like and adjust their display sizes. For example - you can place a conversation on a wall while doing something else. The standard viewing mode puts the Skype conversation right in front of you.

When receiving a call from a HoloLens user on a Windows 10 device, non-HoloLens users will also be able to interact with the mixed reality holographic world. Skype will ask for a special HoloLens Add-in to be installed, which allows non-HoloLens users to view the holographic world of the contact and draw doodles manually.

Skype uses Cortana's voice commands to control different aspects of a Skype conversation (the ability to pin a video feed to a wall, for example). You can also quickly launch Skype and call a contact by activating Cortana and by using the 'Call' command. Similarly, Cortana will notify the user of an incoming Skype call.

Skype can also be run in audio-only mode on HoloLens, which allows the HoloLens user to run other holographic applications while having a conversation.

The HoloLens version of Skype allows users to draw holograms in your environment, or the environment of the person you're having a conversation with. This can be particularly useful when trying to explain something technical over Skype - such as the process of installing a light bulb.
