What is the best subtitle creation and editing software for macOS?

Considering excellent free options out there, the pricetag for this software is steep.

Not ideal for projects with overlapping audio

If you use the waveform to adjust timings for subtitles, adjusting one timing, if it comes into contact with the timing of another subtitle, will push the timings for the second timing so that they do not overlap. It's nice for clean cut situations, but not ideal when subtitles need to overlap.
