The Hario Technica is a very flashy, unique-looking coffee maker, making it a great conversation starter especially in social gatherings. The brewing process alone is its own spectacle: resembling a science experiment more than making coffee. This is because the Hario Technica uses an open flame to force water up through the filter and mix with the coffee. When the flame is put out, a vacuum is created that force filters the coffee by pulling it down into the container that originally contained water.
