Ranked in these QuestionsQuestion Ranking
Pros
Pro Rulelight: fast and balanced
The game runs with a really lightweight check mechanic, which leaves little doubt on how to perform tasks and resolve a specific situations. Easy lo learn and play.
Pro Fun character advancement tracks
Pro Fun, dark setting
Cthulhu meets D&D.
Cons
Con More boons and more banes
As you progress, the difficulty tends to remain static, which is concidered a good thing. But to counter things getting harder and gaining loads of boons from various character sources, the GM just has to add more banes to every situation. It feels very counter intuitive and too much stacking of boons on top.
Con Gross out humour and poop jokes
Unfortunately, the game contains a lot of infantile humour and gross adventures. The game is really focused on horror, and despite it's merits.. it will not be to everyone's tastes. Thankfully a more generic and less horror themed version (Weird wizard) is in the works, which also updates the rules in various ways.
Con Completely combat focused
Despite WFRP being a major inspiration, every character path option feels designed for combat, and social conflict is given the lightest of touches.
Con Squishy origins, super heroic endings
You start relatively weak and danger of dying is high, but as the system is only 10 levels you feel a very strong power curve, and will feel very heroic/super relatively quickly diminishing the horror.
