Pros
Pro Immersive storyline
The plot twists are unexpected, the big open world full of interesting characters to talk to and a lot of opportunities for quests.
Pro Unique balance of magic vs. technology
Arcanum has a well thought out class system. You can enjoy playing the game the same, regardless of the side you choose - magic or technology. You can try and stay neutral to have more flexibility in your actions, but then your skills won't get to a high level. If you do choose a side, it influences your gameplay further on: if you become a powerful magician, your aura starts wreaking havoc on the nearby technology, so you can't use any machine reliably. If you go the technology way, you become immune to the spells and magical items - beneficiary effects especially.
Pro High replayability
Arcanum offers a bunch of basic/derived stats, primary skills, and spells/technological degrees, which you can develop by attributing points. Also, there are a lot of moral choices to make in dialogues and reactions, and the world in the further gameplay adapts according to your answers.
Pro Graphically well aged
It looks of its era, but the direct draw graphics and the classic of its era look has aged wondrously in a nostalgic and nonabrasive way. It looks and feels like a classic.
Cons
Con Flawed combat system
The final release of the game has three combat modes: real-time, turn-based, and a faster version of turn-based. Real-time mode is too fast and frantic, and the turn-based combat can feel as a chore - these flaws make some people stop playing after the first of the few dungeon-crawls.
Con Difficult to run on modern systems
It's a great game, but it requires specific community patchers with an understanding of what those patchers do to make the game run well.
