Pro Keeps important documents safe and organized at the same time
The main purpose of the SentrySafe is to store important documents and files such as birth and marriage certificates, passports, tax papers, life insurance papers, social security data, etc. These items need to be stored in a safe place that, on the one hand, keeps them organized and orderly, and on the other, protects them from harmful elements such as fire and water. This safe is also particularly well-suited to the job due to its size, which is big enough to house full-sized document folders without having to fold them. At the same time, however, the SentrySafe is small enough to hide away under a bed or in a small closet, for example.
Pro Fire and water proof
The SentrySafe is UL Classified Fire Endurance certified, meaning it can successfully protect documents and any other valuables in 1550°F heat for a period of up to 30 minutes (most residential fires last less than 30 minutes). It's designed in such a way that if it's caught up in a fire, the heat causes its lid to weld shut so that its contents are completely protected. As such, not only are its contents protected from fire but also from any water that may used by the firemen to put it out.
Pro Simple but safe locking system
The SentrySafe features a privacy key lock comprising a basic locking mechanism that can be opened using a key. Potential buyers should also note that in order to make locking and unlocking easier, they should get into the habit of pushing down on the safe lid when turning the key.
Pro Convenient to access
This safe comprises a top opening lid that makes for easier, more convenient access to your documents and/or other valuable items.
Pro Looks good
The SentrySafe has a modern, stylish design that won't make it look like a complete eyesore in a room.
Con Not entirely thief-proof
The SentrySafe offers basic security but it wasn't designed for anti-theft purposes. To that end, it won't prevent entry from a determined thief who is equipped with the right burgling tools. This is not a flaw as such, but rather something that potential buyers should bear in mind.
Con Doesn’t come with a document hanger
If you wish to optimize the organization of your documents in this safe, you can use a folder hanger which will separate and order files accordingly. Unfortunately, the safe doesn't come with a hanger, meaning this would have to be bought separately.
Con Cumbersome to carry
The SentrySafe doesn’t have a handle or finger ledges on its sides that would make carrying it easier.
