Pros
Pro Can be used as a dashcam
If you're looking for a compact, light camera that you can mount in your car, this is a good option to consider. The YI Lite can be charged while recording and the micro USB port is easily accessible. The camera also supports a looping mode, where you can set it to an interval of time and only save the video if something happens in this interval by pressing the pause button.
Pro Superior interactivity in its price range
In this price bracket, YI Lite is one of the few cameras that have a responsive touchscreen, a bluetooth connection for something like a selfie stick with a remote and a well designed smartphone application. You can create a wifi hotspot in the camera settings and use the mobile application to see a live feed of what the camera’s recording, change settings, start/stop recordings, download files from the camera and even edit them to some extent.
Pro Stabilizes your videos
If you don’t want your videos to be shaky and hard to watch, you probably want some image stabilization to your recordings. While it’s only an option for sub 4k video resolutions, it works great compared to other available options at this price point.
Pro Better than average video quality
The video quality is much better than the average camera in this price bracket. There’s clarity and sharpness to the image, the colors don't look over-saturated and unlike a lot of other action cameras out there, if you record at 60fps (frames per second), it actually looks like you’re recording at 60fps and not just filling the gaps with motion blur.
Cons
Con Poor microphone audio quality
There are quite a few user complaints about the quality of the in-built microphone of the camera. The issues seem to differ from person to person, but the complaints are usually about low quality sounding audio, buzzing noises ranging from barely noticeable to loud and the microphone picking up a lot of wind noise and even cutting out sometimes for no apparent reason.
Con Only the bare minimum included
In the camera packaging you'll find only the bare necessities: the camera itself, one battery and a micro USB cable to charge the battery / transfer files from the camera. Any additional accessories, like a protective case, a mount for your helmet / bike, you have to buy separately.
Con Probably not the 4k video recording you’re looking for
The video does look sharper, more clear at 4k, but the 15/20fps (frames per second) limit makes it look stuttery. If you were to record at 4k, the resulting video would most likely end up looking choppy and shaky if you, for example, decided to mount it on your bike and go for a ride in the woods.
