Review of Brugge powered by the Slant community.
Brugge (and also the nearby town of Gent) were known in medieval times as commercial centres in the heart of Europe. The city reflects a considerable exchange of influences on the development of art and architecture, particularly in brick Gothic, which is characteristic of northern Europe and the Baltic.

In Brugge, and Belgium in general, it's easy to find good quality restaurants at an affordable price.

The nearby village of Damme is also well worth a visit, I would recommend a bike trip along the channel.
