Con Generated ES5 is ugly and performs badly
Output looks far from handwritten ES5, is quite large with a lot of extra statements to execute.

Con No syntactic sugar added
Babel is more like a polyfill created in order to allow the usage of ES6 features into the current architecture until browsers get updated and catch up. Therefore it does not really add any "syntatic sugar" on top of JavaScript. It's simply a bridge between ES5 and ES6.
