A commonly reported fault is that the mouse's main buttons occasionally cease to function, or double click when only a single click is intended. However this is easily resolved by removing the batteries and pressing all of the buttons to allow the mouse's capacitors to discharge. See More
Once fully charged the mouse lasts for several weeks of moderate use before requiring further charge. Users are notified through lights on the mouse itself, and systray notifications when the mouse is nearing the end of its charge (generally several days before). Even after several years of use this appears to be the case. The mouse uses one AA battery. A rechargeable NI-MH battery is included. Three programmable buttons are easily accessed by your thumb. In addition to the Zoom, Forward and Back buttons depicted, the thumb rest has a button for switching between applications, the mouse wheel may be held to allow drag navigation, and the mouse button may be tilted left or right for horizontal scrolling. These are the mice they have where I work and I find them adequate there. They slide easily on a pad, are easy to sanitize and only need fresh batteries perhaps once a year or so. At home I tend to put mice through quite a bit more punishment, being given to coding late at night and occasionally falling asleep at my desk, only to wake with a start and send the mouse sailing off the desk to the floor several feet away. I liked the fact that the first several times that happened there seemed to be no ill effect; no dents, noises, weakened resistance in any of the buttons, etc. It felt like I'd found a worthy successor to the M705 Marathon I'd worked to death in the many years before. That all came crashing to a halt on perhaps the seventh or eighth trip across the room when I retrieved it from its landing zone to discover it would never work again. I could hear my old Marathon clucking its tongue from beyond the grave, remembering any of the well over fifty times it had been launched just as far or further before finding itself in the same, non-operative state. I didn't even bother to RMA it, knowing it had no business living subject to such punishment and the search goes on. The present contender is a Logi G604 that is almost feline in its ability to gracefully land after an unexpected fall, however the buttons have such a light touch that errant clicks are beginning to threaten my sobriety and so I expect to give it away in short order and begin the process anew.
