Pros
Pro Satisfying golf gameplay that's easy to pick up and learn
Even if all you know about golf is what a hole in one is, you can still enjoy Mario Golf: World Tour. The tutorial section gives you all the tools you need to practice, and to learn everything as you go along. As you keep at it, you naturally pick up on how to score well and how to perfect the timing of your shots. Once you see yourself scoring well on a course that only requires five hits, and getting your ball in at, say, three hits, and earning those high marks, you start to see that golf can be pretty enjoyable. Terms like "birdie," "eagle," and "bogie" will become second-nature to you as you keep playing and improve.
Pro Many optional challenges to go after to unlock new courses, items, and more
Mario Golf: World Tour has a ton of replay value through the different challenges you can take on. There are pages and pages of challenges in your log book for you to tackle whenever you want, like hitting your ball through gold rings throughout courses, scoring a set amount of gold coins also by hitting your ball through or near them, and so on. Clearing these earns you more courses to play on, many of which are Nintendo-themed with special obstacles and traps; you can also get a bunch of cosmetic customization items for your personalized Mii character, like clothes and outfits you can use to dress up as Toad, Daisy, and many other characters.
Pro Fun multiplayer options against other players
When you've had enough of single-player content, you can always hop online and play against others in a tournament. These tournaments constantly shuffle out over time, so you have plenty of chances to start fresh and earn the rewards from playing well. Getting to play against others is a great way to test your skills and see where you might need to improve instead of just playing by yourself.
Pro Solid roster of Nintendo characters to play as
There are plenty of familiar faces here to choose from. You can play as Mario, of course, as well as other longtime Nintendo characters like Yoshi, Peach, Donkey Kong, Bowser, Waluigi, and many more. Everyone has their own play style as well, with bigger characters like Donkey Kong and Bowser having stronger hits at the cost of sharper curves, while others like Peach and Mario are standard, straight-shooters. Anyone is sure to find a character whose style suits them best.
Cons
Con Wasted potential with the Course Club mode
Inside Peach's Castle, there's a country club where you learn the ropes with your Mii character, but that's about all you can do there. The NPCs in the area are just there for flavor, and the many rooms in the building don't serve any purpose whatsoever. Once you're finished with the tutorials, you really won't have a reason to go back here. It's a shame, because the place could have been used for some interesting offline matches against NPCs, at the very least.
Con The audio work sounds a bit off
Something isn't quite right with the sound. Voices, music, and sound effects are usually low-quality, like the engineers recorded everything through a tin can. It's not horrible, but it is pretty noticeable. Depending on how much you care about these things, it might not bother you as much as the next person.
