Todoist allows you to perform advanced queries to find tasks that are overdue, have a certain priority level or label, are within a certain project, are assigned to a certain person, or have a deadline set within a certain date range. It also allows combining different queries, removing certain results from the queries, and creating either/or statements. These queries can be saved as filters for easy access. Filters can be color-coded. See More
Todoist's web and desktop interfaces have a 2-column layout. The right column has all tasks organized in nested lists with color codes and information such as what people are assigned to each task and which project the task is part of. The left column offers ways of accessing various groups of tasks – tasks that have to be completed within a certain timeframe, tasks that are a part of a certain project or have certain labels attached to them, etc. The left column also contains filters that allow even more advanced ways of finding a group of tasks. The mobile interface follows a similar design philosophy, but gives each column a separate view. See More

Wunderlist features the standard ability to add tasks and organize them within lists, but one aspect in which it excels is the amount of detail you can add to each task. Rather than simple alerts, tasks incorporate a number of other options, including reminders, subtasks, notes, and recurring tasks. You can also star important tasks, which is simpler than the priority systems used in many other apps. See More
If you're on the run or away from your device, you can add items to your list by email. You can also add notes to the list item using the body of the message. Wunderlist supports Google Now, meaning you can add to your list using native voice commands on Android. See More
The focus on a minimal interface makes everything fast to use on both web and mobile. This comes in handy for when a note needs to be jotted down quickly, as there is little to no load times or faffing about trying to get to a space where the note can finally be recorded. See More
When a mobile device isn't in use, Google Keep can be accessed as a Chrome app or as a website. Basically, no matter the device being used or the OS on it, there is always a way to access the app. There is also no limitation to how many devices this can be done with, freeing up the user to always have access. I’ve tried most to-do apps and this is by far the best. It’s simple to get up and running, syncs well, tasks can be sent in from other apps or by email, and has all the complexity you’d ever want once you learn what it can do. The search function is phenomenal, including smart lists — for example, any item that has the word “buy” in it or the tag “errand.” It’s very flexible and has a customizable GTD setup. I’m surprised this app isn’t at the top of anyone’s list. See More
Adding a task can be as simple or complicated as you like. A to-do list entry can simply consist of its title, or you can also add notes, recurrence, set a due date, tag a location, schedule an alarm, priority (low, medium, high, starred) and tack on a URL or photo. You can even make an audio recording with voice notes. And each list is sortable by a number of criteria, including priority and due date. See More
