Pros
Pro Fast-paced action platforming with responsive controls
Mega Man 11 is awesome for its retro-style, side-scrolling action platforming that demands precision and quick reflexes. Jumping over obstacles, shooting at enemies zipping around on the field, and using Mega Man's hi-tech gadgets to your advantage are all part of the game. The controls are incredibly smooth and responsive, making your skills shine as much as possible. It's a classic type of game that still feels refreshing because of the polished gameplay.
Pro Tough optional challenges with online leaderboards
Once you complete the main scenario, you can jump into some optional challenges that keep track of your scores online. There are some neat time challenges, for example, where you have to clear the obstacle courses as quickly as possible, as well as some other ones like levels where you only have one life. This is the perfect way for Mega Man vets to get more practice in and top the leaderboards for recognition and a sense of accomplishment.
Pro Plenty of difficulty options to choose from
Mega Man 11 is a really challenging game, but thankfully there are difficulty options to tone this down if you want. The newcomer and casual options are much more forgiving and don't expect you to use every single arsenal of Mega Man's skills. And if the game isn't challenging enough, say, on normal mode, you can always up the difficulty if you're looking for something more punishing. Each option is balanced well enough to fit players of all skill levels.
Pro Nice visuals that blend retro with a more modern feel
Mega Man 11 is the first new Mega Man game in a long time, so the devs made sure to update the graphical style to keep up with the times. The 3D backgrounds and 2D character and enemy models go well together, staying true to classic Mega Man from the retro era. The electric blues and other colors really pop on the screen, and all the visual effects from Mega Man's flashy gadgets look fantastic. It's a great new style that doesn't change up too much from the original.
Cons
Con Each level plays exactly the same
There isn't much variety with the levels. They all play the same, with no alternate paths, shortcuts, or hidden secrets to find. It can get pretty repetitive as you keep trying to beat a level after dying, or when playing through the game a second or third time.
Con English voice acting is hit-or-miss
The English dub isn't as good as it could have been. Some of the characters sound great, while others sound completely tone deaf or unrealistic. You can switch to the Japanese voices from the menu if you'd like, but it's still too bad that the English voices aren't totally acceptable.
