Pros
Pro Excellent performance
In addition to the already powerful performance of the RTX 2080 cards, MSI cards quite often tend to outperform the other models in the series. It appears to be the case for the MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio as well.
It can run older games at highest settings and on a 4K screen at a very decent fps. For example, GTA V runs at 84.8 fps. If you're playing on a 1080p screen, you can experience an fps of 187.5.
The Witcher 3 runs at 67.6 fps on a 4K screen. The reference card runs the same game at 63.6 fps. GTX 1080 Ti runs the game at 58.5 fps. In 1080p resolution, the difference is more pronounced. This MSI model runs the game at 151 fps, while the GTX 1080 Ti reaches 128.8 fps.
Rise of the Tomb Raider runs at 52.6 fps in 4K and at the highest settings.
The MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Gaming X Trio cannot run all games at an fps higher than 60, while gaming in 4K. Nevertheless, it outperforms most of the RTC 2080 cards and is an excellent pick for 4K gaming.
Pro Relatively cool in temperature
The card does not reach 80 degrees Celsius when gaming and therefore you shouldn't experience any heat-related issues.
In fact, out of the more popular RTX 2080 cards, the MSI Gaming X Trio is one of the coolest. It reaches only 70 degrees Celsius while gaming.
Pro Relatively quiet
The card is silent when idling and relatively quiet while under load.
In idle, the card turns the fans off and does not generate any noise at all.
Under load, the card generates 36 dBA of noise, which is not exactly quiet, but it beats a lot of other high-performance cards out there. For example the GTX 1080 Ti generates around 39 dBA of noise and the RX Vega 64 reaches 45 dBA.
You will be able to hear the card when gaming, but taking into consideration the power of the RTX 2080 and this specific model, the noise levels are surprisingly low.
