At a total of 36 square kilometers of area to use (compared to Sim Cities 4), there is quite a bit of room to build and play.
Pro Depth of field
There is a depth of field effect that will blur distant buildings, which mimics Sim City's diorama effect. It can of course be adjusted with a slider as to how much or little to use.
Pro Easy on the eyes, very beautiful to play
Not everything has to be on a grid. If you want a weird oval shaped loop, don't worry you can do it.
Pro Steam workshop + built-in mod management
Mods can really give it that night life like vibe. Or turn everyone into Santa, cause why not.
Pro Rewarding to learn how the game works
The game gives you goals to reach. Reaching each one requires learning more about the game, and sometimes it requires starting new cities to plan things differently, but it is generally quite fun to attempt.
Pro Steady stream of new content via DLCs
DLCs are optional, they do go on sale. Plus when a new DLC is released a bit of the content is released into the base game.
Pro Large amount of workshop mods & assets
With almost 150 thousand assets and mods, you can completely change the gameplay and look of the game.
Cons
Con Resource heavy
If your computer doesn’t have decent specs, don’t expect to be able to run this game smoothly.
Con Confusing sub-systems that are never explained can hinder a city's growth.
Things like population age ratios and transportation inefficiencies can disable even very large and reasonably designed cities. These concepts are never explained.
Con Can be difficult to glean what one has done wrong in game
Cities: Skylines has difficulty letting the player know what they have done wrong, which results in a lot of head scratching.
