Pro Supports Nextcloud/Owncloud ecosystem
QOwnNotes is compatible with the web- and mobile ownCloud notes applications. It also supports ownCloud's selective sync feature - an unlimited amount of note folders with the ability to choose the respective folder on your server. You can manage your ownCloud todo lists (ownCloud tasks or Tasks Plus / Calendar Plus) or use another CalDAV server to sync your tasks to.

There is quite a wide range of scripts extending the functions of QOwnNotes, some of them quite handy, e.g a configurable export with Pandoc.
Cons
Con Instead of "open" an external .md file, you have to "import" it
It has its own way of seeing things: it's not a file editor but a note taking tool, so, instead of opening an already existing file, you have to "import" it to add to its note system/folder. Not so a big con, actually.
Con Encryption only of single notes
In contrast to notes editors like Joplin where you can effortlessly encrypt the complete folder, in QOwnNotes, it is only possible to encrypt a single note. And, these notes cannot be decrypted in the Nextcloud App.
