Brogue is an ASCII art styled Rogue-like game that is a direct descendant of another roguelike, [Rogue](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_(video_game). Unlike other popular modern rogue-likes, it favors simplicity over complexity, while trying to ensure that the interactions between components will be interesting and varied.

Pros
Pro Arguably the best graphics for an ascii roguelike, thanks to the colorful design
Lots of animation and lighting effects make the ASCii graphics stand out. The game is very colorful as well, which also adds to the great design. For what are normally pretty basic graphics, Brogue actually appears very polished in this regard.
Pro Very easy item and equipment use thanks to there being no character classes in the game
Any item found in the game can be equipped, thanks to there being no classes. While this does deviate from most roguelikes, it is beneficial to the point that there is no worries of what can and cannot be used.
Cons
Con Doesn't work well on a small screen
Works great on an 8-inch tablet, but may be difficult to play on something smaller.
Con No classes
While not having any classes for the main character means that any item can be equipped, it does make for less replayability due to not having different classes to try out on multiple play throughs.
By concentrating on different aspects of the character- and item development, its possible to have a variety of different play throughs. A Warhammer and a big shield are the warriors best friend. Light armor and stealth make for a good rogue. Staffs and wands make for a good wizard. Relying on allies and pushing their development is another way to go.
