Remembers playback speed & starting position
You can set a 'start from' position for a podcast to skip a set number of seconds from the beginning of an episode. Great for when you don't want to listen to an intro you've heard a couple of dozen times before. Additionally, you can also change the playback speed, to slow down fast talkers or speed up slow talkers.

Scammed users by revoking lifetime membership
Paid for lifelong membership for the app and desktop, now the app is free.

SpiritedHeimdallr's Experience
no way to organise eps apart from filters for each podcast, I cannot see how this is beneficial unless you have subscribed to 1-20 pods. Very slow, almost unusable at times, queues not doing what they are advertised to do, Search is bad. although I like the search in Pods option. I know it's a small team and they do update the app often but I cannot see why I am still using it as it no longer adds value and most of the time is a time waste. paid Mac OS app pretty useless apart from just listening , no filter options etc I can go on for ages about why I do not recommend it, and I am one of the users that purchased this app back when it was released and it was great..not anymore tho.

HappyArash's Experience
Long time Pocketcast user now looking to abandon it because of the truly awful update. Features such as "play all from here" are gone. Menus are confusing. Scrub controls are now missing from some screens. Confusing dual method of marking "played" and "archive." It's a shame, but this program is now a mess.

Can't play episodes unless you are subscribed to a podcast
If you want to try and listen to an episode before subscribing to a podcast, you can't do that. In order to play/preview episodes you need to be subscribed to that podcast.

•••
Vibrant aesthetics
Pocket Casts has one of the most colorful, pleasant to use interfaces. For example, the app takes the most prominent color from the album art and colorizes the rest of the playback interface based on that color. This allows the interface to stay vibrant and slightly different for each podcast. Or the way it displays featured podcasts in a colorful mosaic made from album art, makes the whole experience of using the app pleasant.

No automated play queue
Other players allow for automatically ordering the order of new episodes and playing in that arbitrary order. Pocket Casts requires manually adding new episodes to a play queue every single time, and then manually dragging the play queue order.

While I love this podcast player for a lot of its features, it's not supported enough, likely because there aren't enough people supporting it. It's too bad, because otherwise I think it's the best online podcast player out there.
