The controls are fairly simple. You are driving a car pushing a ball around, with forward, reverse, boost, power-slide and jump as your only real abilities to learn. The difficulty comes in learning to use these abilities to perform in air and off the wall maneuvers that will make for breath-taking replays and make the unexpected play.

With DLC there are quite a few cars to choose from, including the Delorean from Back to the future. Create a custom car by choosing paint scheme, color, paint type(gloss/flat, ect.) wheels, boost color, hat and antenna toppers. Countless possibilities, with more to come.

Uncharted 4 features some of the best character development in a game. The voice acting only improves on this as it is some of the best acted scenes in gaming. The outset is that a long lost brother returns, whom you would think would have been mentioned in a previous game at some point, but even then something that could be a poor plot point ends up getting explained quite well and acted even better. The overall story besides the brother relationship also sees some of the best acting in a game as well as develops those relationships in a meaningful manner.

The game has central hubs in each level where there can be multiple paths to advance. This creates a way for the player to feel as though there is choice to where they want to go or how they would like to approach a mission. Being that these central hubs are large in area, there may be a bunch of different options on how to traverse that area, ranging from rope swings, to using one's Jeep. Overall the game makes what used to be a very linear path (in previous releases) feel a lot more open and accessible.

At a max of 5 vs 5 (a total of ten players) the online multiplayer allows for large brawls and gunfights to take place. This is enhanced by supernatural abilities the players can use in order to gain an advantage at an opportune time.

The player can choose if they want to go into situations guns blazing, or avoid most combat and guns for a more stealth oriented playstyle. Giving the player the freedom to choose can make for a more engaging game thanks to gameplay being able to fit with the story going on at the time. This being the third and final chapter of the franchise supports the idea the the main characters are more calm and grown up, which suits stealth gameplay a lot more than shooting anything that moves.

The last third of the game can be quite repetitive, tasking the player with the same objectives over and over again. The feeling that this was done to extend the gameplay is difficult to ignore.

The cover system may leave the player wanting, as it can make for situations where you gain cover in an area you did not want to. There is also issue at points where the auto climb mechanic grabs the wrong ledge when climbing. While both are not overly egregious, it can cause some frustration during hectic moments.

The story in the game is well fleshed out. It is a fictional story about if the Nazis took over the world after WWII, which is not a new premise, but has so many little touches that really create an immersive story that the player cares about. This is where the animation and voice acting of the game comes into play, with things like subtle eye rolls or twirling of thumbs to inflections in a characters voice. It gives a sense that these people in the story are real and when complimented with a well written plot, it makes for a great experience.

 Multiple ways to approach a mission

Metal Gear Solid V gives players multiple choices on how to approach a mission or clear an outpost. For example, the player can choose to use stealth and cunning in order to complete their mission and kill only when it's absolutely necessary, or they can get in guns blazing and kill every single enemy soldier sometimes even sniping each one of them from afar or calling the helicopter for air support. This gives a special flavor to the gameplay and doesn't let it get stale for a long time since it leaves the choice on how to play to the player, without penalizing them for not completing a mission by using stealth (as other previous MGS used to do).

Throughout the story of the game, the player will be trying to rebuild their private military which was lost in the epilogue of the previous title in the MGS series. Other than building their "Mother Base" which is an ever-evolving giant structure which serves as a base of operations for the player and other NPCs which help the player, players can also recruit enemy soldiers to increase the size of their mercenary company. These soldiers can help based on their area of expertise to either work on developing new projects or be dispatched around the world to complete missions and earn in-game money.

Something often found in free to play games is microtransactions, sadly they are included in the multiplayer aspect of The Phantom Pain going so high as $79.99 for a bundle of in game currency that can be used for advantage in the online part of the game. Considering that MGS V already is a full priced title at $59.99, to see Konami milking their fans for never ending microtransactions is pretty disheartening, especially when considering they can be used to get a leg up over others in the multiplayer by easily creating more resources over other non paying players.

The graphics have a very arcade feel to them, but do stand out as well done. The colors are bright and the tracks each have their own look thanks to the locales they are placed in. The whole game will run easily at 60fps no matter the platform, which helps to keep things looking sharp thanks to no dips in the framerate. Overall this is a slick looking racer.

Cars dropped from helicopter to begin a race, tracks with numerous loops, jumps, twist and turns, this all lends itself to how over the top the gameplay is. Not based in reality at all but the game offers a bunch of arcade crazy action.

The looks as well as the gameplay may bee seen as a bit simple, but this all plays into the core of the game as it is designed to do one thing and one thing well, race time trials. So while it does not feature over complex customization or graphical effects, its track design and overall fun of play is what makes the whole game stand out. The point of the game is easy to grasp that anyone will understand how to play, of course this does not mean the game is easy, the difficulty is quite challenging, which just adds to the charm and overall appeal.

Overwatch combines team-fortress style game modes, traditional FPS gameplay and MOBA-esqe abilities. There are a variety of characters that play completely differently from each other, for example one is a melee basher with a charge ability while another is a super agile character with the ability to zip around the battlefield. Every character also has an ultimate ability that re-charges throughout the match and can single-handedly change the outcome of a fight.

For those that are more interested in solo play with little cooperation the game may not be a good choice as winning often requires a team that communicates well. For those that don't have an easy way to communicate or are just not interested in team play it may not be as fun as it should be.

The third mode is more an interesting combination of third-person shooting and tower-defense. In this mode, you (and up to three friends) are tasked with building and protecting a garden from ever increasing hordes of zombies.

The basics of the fighting system is a rock, paper, scissors mechanic where certain moves defeat others. Say if a user throws a punch at the same time another user tries a throw, the punch will win. While there are more layers to this, this is the basic way the system works, which is easy to grasp, even for those that do not often play fighting games, making this one accessible.

The english dub for this game is bad. Voices do not match the characters, much of the acting is over the top or just straight up unbelievable. While this can be seen as a non serious game it would have been nice to see the localization team give a bit more care to the voice acting, as is, it is pretty bad.

You can only do ranked matches for online play there is no option to play against ones friends. This really limits the multiplayer for those that do not like playing against random opponents.

 Every character can use multiple stances

Dead or Alive has always had stances built into the game, unlike other series like Street Fighter where one or two characters may have a stance that can change, Dead or Alive has this for all characters, and multiple stances at that. The stances allow for different moves to be pulled off depending on which stance the character is in. This makes for a great way to mix up the gameplay as there are so many choices and moves to be pulled off.

Players can push others up against walls and there are areas in each stage called danger zones that make for an area where one can fall down to another part of the stage. When in the danger zone the player in trouble also has a chance to grab their opponent, thus allowing for a way to switch situations. This all adds a level of complexity to each stage and each players tactics that can make the game more interesting over a game with static stages.

Shadow Fall features some very robust and colorful environments. For example there are vast cityscapes as well as lush forests. Not only does this change up the looks of the game allowing the player to never feel too visually bored, but it allows for different tactics to be used in game, depending on the area the player is playing in.

At certain points of play there will be sections where the player needs to platform or control their character in a zero gravity situation. These are deviations from the shooter gameplay and often feel forced as well as control poorly. While it is nice to see the gameplay broken up a bit so you are not always doing the same thing over and over again, the non gun gameplay just does not feel intuitive, it does not work well with the flow of the game, which basically breaks the players immersion.

Dissidia Final Fantasy NT features protagonists and antagonists from each mainline Final Fantasy game, like Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII and Noctis from Final Fantasy XV. During story cutscenes, characters from different games interact with one another, like Lightning from the Final Fantasy XIII games agreeing to team up with Squall from Final Fantasy VIII. In battle, they can summon the classic guardians like Bahamut and Ifrit. Each of the Final Fantasy characters have flashy battle styles, and their gargantuan summon deities are slick, clean and full of detail. Particle effects and vibrant, colorful magic spells look impressive on the battlefield, and characters look great casting them. Older series characters look stunning with modern PlayStation 4 graphics, such as Kefka from Final Fantasy VI on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System with his menacing face paint and gaudy, circus-like outfit reminiscent of a court jester.

 You can summon giant guardian deities to help you pull off victories in cool ways

After filling the summon bar by hitting enemies, players can choose to summon these giant Final Fantasy guardian deities who stay on the battlefield and deal constant damage to the enemies, often able to help a losing team pull through to a victory. The water serpent Leviathan loops dangerous tides of water throughout the field to trap the other team, while the intimidating dragon Bahamut fires down powerful beams of energy that explode, severely wounding anyone caught nearby. Each summon also grants special passive effects to their team during battle: Alexander, the great protector, raises HP and defense, while the fiery demon Ifrit helps players quickly reduce their foe's stamina.

 Characters are balanced

The Final Fantasy fighters are separated into different types of specialties: assassins, vanguards, and marksmen who all have strengths and weaknesses relative to one another, as well as specialists who fall into a category of their own. Characters like Cloud who wield huge, powerful swords as vanguards are effective at punishing lighter assassin-type fighters. Marksmen cast barrages of spells from afar, like Y'shtola with her black and white magic. They're great at against vanguards who move slowly, but weak against assassins like Lightning who are adept at quickly getting in close and interrupting their casts. Meanwhile, specialists are more versatile in their move sets, but they require a lot of time before unlocking their full potential, without any major strengths or weaknesses. This rock, paper, scissors-type of gameplay balance helps to solidify everyone's identity as a fighter based on their weapons and personal style.

 No dedicated servers for online matches

Multiplayer battles run on peer-to-peer connections instead of dedicated servers, meaning that one of the six players in the battle acts as the host for the match. The quality of everyone's connection depends on the host's internet. If host's connection is bad, they may not notice too many issues on their end. If you're the host, and you're running a wired connection from your router or modem to your PS4, then you have little to worry about. If someone else is the host and they have an awful connection, then be prepared for a lot of lag.

 Battles are too chaotic

With six players on the field at one time, all of them performing flashy attacks, chaining huge casts of magic one after another, and zipping and dashing around the field, there's too much to keep track of at once. There are arcs of red and blue lines meant to denote who's targeting you and who you're targeting, respectively, but these can get lost amid the chaos of particle effects, smoke, and obstacles such as cliffs and walls. It can be difficult to quickly notice when you're targeted by two or three players at once if you're not already a safe distance away, leading to sudden, irritating defeats.

 Gameplay speed slowed down from previous Dissidia titles

The flow of battle in Dissidia NT is noticeably slower than in the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation Vita games, with dashes bogged down by stamina bars, and downed combatants given periods of invincibility while they recover. There's a frustrating pace to combat where you can't freely travel around the field without pausing to recover stamina, and successful barrages of attacks on enemies are interrupted by their free seconds of invincibility until they're able to be targeted again.

 Soundtrack is subpar

Remixes of tracks from the original Final Fantasy games for Dissidia NT are considerably lacking, sounding like mere demos or unfinished pieces. Songs such as The Extreme, the final battle track from Final Fantasy VIII, feel empty and soulless, not at all like the larger-than-life theme with the eerie female chorus chanting in Latin and the energy of the piano backing the vocals. Almost every song in NT lacks what made the original tracks so great.

 Awful story mode progression

Story mode cutscenes can only be unlocked one by one after fighting dozens of arcade or multiplayer battles first, causing a terrible stop-and-go pace for watching the plot unfold. Sometimes the cutscenes are only 20-30 seconds long, and then you're forced back into more battles before you're allowed to progress to the next scene.

 New cutscenes add more depth to the main antagonist

In the original Yakuza 1, Nishiki's change from Kiryu's best friend to a cold-hearted villain didn't feel natural, but new scenes in Yakuza Kiwami flesh out this transformation. The cutscenes give more context and background on why Nishiki made such a drastic change, portraying him in a sympathetic light that helps the player understand him more. It helps a lot to see his sorrows and his struggles against his own subordinates in the yakuza who disrespect him, as well as his resentment toward his superiors who think he'll never live up to Kiryu.

 Great amount of side content

In between story missions, Kiryu is mostly free to run around the city and engage in optional side quests or mini games. Side quests in Yakuza Kiwami mostly deal with various shady characters trying to scam Kiryu out of his money, like a supposed loan collector who calls his cell phone and demands that he pay up or get beaten up, and a thuggish guy collecting toll money on a street and also threatening to fight Kiryu if he doesn't pay. Mini games can be found in the SEGA arcades, like the classic UFO catcher, or elsewhere at the mahjong parlor, the shogi building, the karaoke parlor and much more.

 Compelling story

Yakuza Kiwami tells the story of Kiryu getting dismissed from the yakuza, only to get swept right back into their world once his loved ones are in trouble. As he tries to find out what happened to his love interest, Yumi, he meets Haruka, and learns to care for her as if she were his own daughter. While protecting Haruka from the yakuza who target her, Kiryu discovers more about how she and Yumi are both connected to a larger crime of ten billion yen that's gone missing from the crime syndicate, all the while his best friend Nishiki pulls strings from the shadows. Overall, the story leans successfully on its memorable characters and Kiryu's attachments to them. Finding out what happened to the missing ten billion yen also includes figuring out why Nishiki went down such a dark path, finding Yumi, and keeping Haruka safe. It's compelling to play through the game and discover these answers while also getting to know the characters more along the way.

 Memorable cast of characters

You'll encounter a diverse batch of characters in Yakuza Kiwami, like Kiryu's childhood friend Nishiki who goes down a dark path that changes him, creating an intriguing drama throughout the story. There's also Haruka, a determined young girl who is looking for her mother, and ends up forming a strong bond with Kiryu as he tries to protect her from the yakuza who want to harm her. Goro Majima, one of the antagonists, is a foil to Kiryu in how wild and unhinged he is, often throwing a wrench into the game's story with his over-the-top antics when you least expect them, such as driving a truck straight through a building. It's easy to grow attached to the cast in Yakuza Kiwami and want to follow their stories throughout the rest of the games in the series. For players who jumped into the franchise with Yakuza 0, they'll have even more backstory on these characters and their struggles in this installment.

 Graphics aren't impressive

Yakuza Kiwami looks like it could have been a PS3 game with weak textures, stiff character animations outside of cutscenes, and too many repeat copies of NPCs around the city. Invisible walls also block off the city's boundaries. Thankfully the characters and facial animations look great during story scenes, helping to make up for the poor visuals elsewhere.

 Majima Everywhere system is annoying

The Majima Everywhere system features the fan favorite character Goro Majima who sneaks up on Kiryu around the city and challenges him to random fights. It's an amusing idea at first, with Majima hiding in giant cones or manholes and popping out to surprise the player. But sometimes these encounters are too frequent, and they can go on for too long as Majima gains more health.

 Boss battles are cheap

Getting stunlocked during boss battles is all too common in Yakuza Kiwami, like when the enemy uses a weapon to constantly hit you over and over. There's also an infamous battle against two gang leaders who enjoy knocking Kiryu to the ground again and again, leaving little room for recovering or dodging. Even if you love the game's story, these annoying fights could be a deal-breaker, especially on harder difficulties.
