The best dependency resolution of all package managers. Portage compiles and installs packages to your machines specific instruction set for the most efficient functionality achievable by a given software. It is light years ahead of binary package managers.

Gentoo's idea is a noble one but the package manager is just SO SLOW. If they made some kind of caching server or something like that, it could be faster. so I don't see any excuse.

One of the best package management systems that exist. You can do so many things and if you listen to all warnings,news and errors you will never break you system or feel unsure what to do. Sometimes I think it is AI powered(which it is not).
