Saint James is the original creator of the Breton stripe top so they have a ton of color options to choose from, besides the classic sailor navy/white.
It takes 4 years to train a seamstress for Saint James production.
Yarn is quality controlled and tested before it is allowed to become part of the garment. Each garment has data about which batch of thread it used, so if there is an issue with the quality, all those garments using the same batch can be traced. Body, collar, and trim are knitted separately but from the same yarn batch to ensure uniformity across stretch and color matching. During assembly, the pieces are steam cleaned to prevent shrinkage in the wash and assembled by craftsmen and women. Stripes are matched perfectly. Ironed before leaving the facility.
Sizing is all over the place since it is a J Crew Factory piece, so manufacturing standards are not as great as the traditional J Crew line. Sometimes this piece fits true to size, sometimes it is way too tight.
