Google Photos comes with free storage for images up to 16GB and videos up to 1080p which means that most users need no longer worry about storage space.
Any images taken with your phone can automatically be backed up to Google Photos. And the first time you run the mobile app it will also help you back up any existing images and videos you might have on your phone.
All images exceeding 16MP and videos exceeding 1080p will automatically be compressed to that size or lower. Meaning high-res images and videos won't work with the unlimited storage option.
Google has a tendency to quickly shut down or abandon services that don't perform well. Google Photos might run the risk of being discontinued if the user base of the app doesn't meet certain criteria.
While there's a free unlimited storage plan, it's limited to 16 megapixel images and 1080p videos. Uploading full-resolution content, if you opt out of free unlimited storage plan, is limited to 15GB that comes with a Google account which is shared across all Google services. Google Photos allows inviting other users to shared libraries. It has a feature that allows auto-adding all photos and videos or only of specific people to the shared library which is really useful for sharing with families or a close group of friends. It also allows the invitee to save those photos straight to their device automatically as if they took it.

If you are a constant clutz, and keep hitting the trash can unwillingly, this app has a solution, the gallery trash can. Although it often comes in handy, of course it's worth noting it will require you to empty the trash can every once and a while if you do not want it to get so full it is un-navigable.
A map shows where photos where taken. if you zoom in you see more details. Geotagging: select one or more photos + "set geo" + pick a point in the map ==> the selected images get that point. Filter images through the map: after selecting an area in the map (i.e. North Germany), the gallery will only show images from North Germany.
If enabled only selected/filtered Images can be seen. This allows you to savley hand over your android phone to someone else and allow him/her to view only those images in Gallery-View, Geographic-Map and Image-View that you have chosen before.
The app analyzes all images that are stored in the app looking to determine which are the most important to you. It then puts those images in collections called Moments that are then prominently displayed within the app.
According to homepage the app is no longer supported or updated. What has been available is often buggy, laggy and missing features, as it never got out of beta.
