Rogue Legacy has an interesting mechanic where each play-through is with a new descendant from the previous character, and they each have various traits and disabilities they inherit that effect how they play.

This way even when the player dies (which happens a lot) the player will not loose their purchased items allowing them to continue without starting completely over.

Upgraded monsters are just palette shifts of old monsters that throw more projectiles. Even with the upgrade tree and armor/runes, the game always feels the same.

Get the ball in the net! Soccer at it's simplest, this game is physics driven using different cars as players, making it a fast-paced and exciting game.

Each game has a time limit of 5 minutes, paused only when one team scores and the ball is reset to mid-field.

A rare feature for a PC game, you can play with friends in the same room, made easier with wireless controllers. Obviously a larger monitor would make this experience more enjoyable, but even on a 20 inch screen it is playable with minimal detail loss.

 Simple controls

Whether you use a controller or keyboard and mouse, the controls are fairly simple. You are driving a car pushing a ball around, with forward, reverse, boost, power-slide and jump as your only real abilities to learn. The difficulty comes in learning to use these abilities to perform in air and off the wall maneuvers that will make for breath-taking replays and make the unexpected play.

With DLC there are quite a few cars to choose from, including the Delorian from Back to the future. Create a custom car by choosing paint scheme, color, paint type(gloss/flat, ect.) wheels, boost color, hat and antenna toppers. Countless possibilities, with more to come.

The physics in the game slightly bend reality , which makes for a fun experience where everything seems to be behaving as though there is less gravity, which means cars can somewhat fly around if the hit each other or go up ramps.

When you die, you spawn quickly to try again. Many games draw out the death, and have to reload. Super Meat Boy immediately re-spawns you so you waste no time.

The addition of a "run" button adds a lot of depth to levels, keeping the run-jump-repeat loop more interesting. The characters have acceleration as well, which demands finesse.

This is not a game you are going to complete in an afternoon. With 240 levels scattered across 7 worlds there is a lot to play in the game.

Between the games gameplay are cut-scenes that fill the player in on the evolving story, sadly the artwork and polish for these cut-scenes shows quite a bit that this is an indie game made by two people as they are a bit unrefined.

VVVVVV is a tough game, one that will cause frustration quite easily. Luckily there are unlimited lives in the game, so areas can be played over and over again with no consequences. There are also easy controls so the game is easy to grasp, just difficult to always execute.

 Throwback to Atari/C64 games while playing like a modern game

VVVVVV is very reminiscent of a game one would find for the Atari or Commodore 64 in that the graphics are simple, but the gameplay is anything but as it plays like nothing one would have found back then. It is fast paced and very precise, also extremely tough.

 Use gravity to solve puzzles

The main mechanic in the game is that the player can switch the gravity in any level allowing the character to flip from the bottom of the screen to the top. This is used in an ingenious way in order to solve puzzles and avoid hazards throughout each level.

The point of the game is to dodge falling blocks to not get smashed, which seems simple enough but it is too easy to die as even touching falling blocks will cause death, even if they would not have smashed you.

M&M Clash of Heroes has a lengthy campaign that will last around 24 hours of play, which for a puzzle focused game is pretty good.

 Interesting mix of match three and RPG

Players are in a traditional RPG world and do level up characters as they would in an RPG but the main gameplay mechanic is match three where players line up their troops against an opposing team doing the same. There is also defensive aspects to the field, so it is a bit more involved than a traditional match 3 game.

 Writing comes off as a bit childish

While the original target of the game may have been young adults or children due to its release on the DS (a mainstay of gaming for kids) the writing shows its roots and may come off as a bit childish.
