 Replayability through different classes

There are a plethora of class's that open up upon leveling to the second level, once one is chosen the others will be gone for that game session. This means that a different playthrough will be needed to explore what all the different classes offer, making for quite a lot of playtime.

 Save anywhere does not save character placement

This means that there will be some retreading of areas once a save is loaded as the character will not be in the same place as where they were left off. This will waste time and can be frustrating having to do this every time a game is loaded.

 Limited respec system

Much like an old school dungeon crawler, there is little to no useful respec system here. You can respec the last three skill points used on a character, but that is it. This tends to lead towards plenty of skills in the skilltree that ended up going nowhere, which are just wasted points. Unless you know specifically where you will be putting each and every skill point for your build beforehand, no respec may have an impact on making a perfect build.

Unlike the first title there are many areas to see in the game that all have different looks. Plus there are large open ares as well as close quarter caverns.

Loot in Torchlight II is varied and dependent on a wide array of circumstances. There are so many variables that come into play as to what a player will find that makes searching out better and better items a game in and of itself.

Torchlight II is a multiplatform game that works on OSX, Linux and Windows. Which is great for users who dualboot as the game can be played no matter what OS is booted at the time.

 Well implemented and fun action-RPG combat

Torchlight 2 has all the typical RPG mechanics such as classes, loot, skill trees etc. However all the little touches and details come together to make playing the game really fun and a great balance between depth/complexity and being able to get started killing hordes of monsters. Killing monsters is very satisfying and the loot system keeps things very interesting without feeling like you're just grinding for better items.

You can team up with up to 5 other plays to take on the hordes together. There is also a PvP mode if you'd rather kill your friends instead of team up with them.

The characters are flat and the overall story is pretty boring/standard. While not unexpected for such a game it would have been nice to have something other than loot driving advancement in the game.

Divinity: Original Sin has an innumerable amount interactions that take place in the game, ranging from NPC interactions to elemental spells that can douse fires, to a cornucopia of items that can be stolen. Most actions in the game can have consequences as well, from lower ranking in a town when thieving to much to full on guard battles. There is often a price to pay for behaving badly and getting caught.

 Self-deprecating humor allows the game to stay lighthearted despite many serious overtones

The writing in the game is often entertaining and humorous as the game does not take itself too seriously. There are quite a few inside jokes to be found for this type of genre game as well as many situations that lighten the mood, such as talking pets that hand out light-hearted quests.

Divinity: Original Sin has a highly interactive world. This ranges from NPC interactions, elemental spells that can affect the environment, to a cornucopia of in-world items and objects that can taken or moved. There are so many things you can do; it's very easy to immerse yourself and have a great time.

You'll be confronted with moral choices during your quests. These choices change how other characters perceive you, affecting the overall story and ending. This makes the story feel more realistic and immersive since actions have consequences.

 You can co-op the game together with a friend

Divinity: Original Sin lets you play through the campaign with a friend through local or online co-op. This is incredible, since the game is so expansive and interactive, opening up many possibilities for different types of experiences. You and your friend are essentially members of the same party, going out on quests and discovering the world together. It's such a neat addition to include co-op for such an open-ended RPG, which is expected to be a single-player experience these days.

Depending on what one want to achieve in the game with their party and what jobs and powers they want each to have it may take several restarts in order to get a good balance. This will take time and can be an inconvenience as none of this is spelled out in the game whatsoever.

 Mechanics take a lot of trial and error

There is a basic tutorial, but it is very limited and does not explain some of the finer aspects of the game. Much of the title relies on using spells, in and out of combat. Want to get into a locked door, you can burn it down. Want to save a burning ship, cast a rain spell over it. While this may seem like an intuitive mechanic, it does take a bit to get used to it and and solve situations through this manner as none of this is explained as to being able to be done.

 Hand-crafted level design with minimum procedural generation

Grim Dawn takes a different approach to level design than some other recent aRPGs such as Diablo 3 or Path of Exile. Instead of using procedural generation, each level is carefully hand-crafted, which adds much more attention to detail and makes the scenes appear more lively. There is still a procedural element when in caverns and forests random paths appear closed, adding some randomization, but the world map always stays the same (which is not even possible to have with procedurally generated levels). Additional nice feature which comes from ditching the procedural generation is secret rooms such as cleverly hidden breakable walls with lots of loot behind them. Of course secrets are not secret anymore for hardcore veterans, but for 99% of players finding a secret breakable wall that is hiding a chest sprawling with unique items is a very satisfying experience.

Co-op is pretty convenient as players can drop in and out of your gaming session at any time. This way there is no wasted time jumping out of ones game in order to find players to play with.

This game is very dark, and grim. It harkens back to games like Diablo 2 or Titans Quest. While other ARPGs have come out since then, none have hit all the marks of what fans of the genre have been asking for. For those that wish for an updated version of Diablo 2, Grim Dawn is the game for them.

 Complex leveling system with thousands of possible builds

Basically you choose 1 class and select skills as you level up. At level 10 you can select a second class, which already gives you 5x5=25 character type possibilities. Each character has dozens of skills, plus you have this additional passive skill tree that you unlock through cleansing shrines. Then there is item customization with crafted "modifiers", adding additional unique stats and skills that you can use, all this adds literally to thousands / millions of character possibilities. Do you want to use a double weapon shooting lightning bolts? You can do that. Do you want to summon your creatures and support them with fireballs? You can do that as well, you can push it wherever you want.

 Static pre-rendered levels

This may cut down on replayability a bit as all the levels in the game are pre-rendered, meaning that each playthrough will have the exact same layout, making for something that can get tiring and too familiar. Similar games have gone with randomized levels, which can keep the game fresh. While Grim Dawn is meant to be a throwback to earlier games in the genre, some newer features found in more recent released would have been welcome.

The majority of loot in the game can be useless, with odd stat restrictions or repeats of vendor items. This means the user will need to make many trips into town to sell it all off in order to have room for even more loot they will not necessarily need.

Just install steam and download the game. No purchase required and the only thing locked behind paywalls is cosmetic accessories and inventory slots of which you can waste money on cosmetics, but you won't fall behind if you don't want to spend money.

While it may be difficult to take in at first the skill tree in Path of Exile is quite expansive allowing for many areas of the characters skills to be customized. The tree is so large there are numerous guides online on how to build specific optimized characters as well as an unofficial companion app for Android.

 Anti-experimentation for new players

The game heavily punishes any experimentation for new players. Unless you have near perfect understanding of late game and the various viable build-options you are more or less unable to experiment your way into viable builds (and the options for correcting mistakes are limited at best). So, unless you are fine with having to scrap a bunch of characters for being sub-optimal, you are more or less forced into following player-made guides to learn the game rather than through engaging with the game itself. This may or may not be a problem for you.

 Great setting

Path of Exile is set in a dark fantasy world where everything is gradually becoming worse. At the foreground, you have the massive continent of Wraeclast that once was the home to a flourishing empire, but now is a place filled with the undead, evil spirits, ruins, and echoes of the past. To make matters worse, malicious entities from another dimension seek to corrupt the world and its inhabitants, giving birth to disfigured monstrosities that seek to end you. The end result is an immersive setting with dark motifs, body horror, loads of gore, and a very tense atmosphere, which is refreshing in an era dominated by family friendly content.

 Feels exhilarating to play

While the gameplay might feel a little slow and clunky in the beginning, it gradually picks up speed as you progress, allowing you to swiftly destroy large groups of monsters with any skills you choose. Whether you're shooting ice arrows with your bow, freezing and shattering every enemy on-screen, or if you're cleaving enemies with a massive axe, causing them to bleed and explode on death, it just feels incredibly satisfying.

Every 4 months or so, Path of Exile has major updates, adding new interesting mechanics, skills, items, and various other content. As a result, every time you come back to Path of Exile after taking a break, it feels like a new game.

 Hundreds of possible character builds

There's a staggering amount of builds and skills you can try out in Path of Exile. There are 7 classes, 19 subclasses, 194 active skill gems, 107 support gems, and over 1000 skill nodes on the expansive skill tree. As a result, there are hundreds of possible combinations, allowing you to spend hours theory-crafting just to create the perfect build. Even if you don't feel like planning out a build from scratch, you can just look up one of the many guides online and get straight into the action.

 Manipulative tactics to make you buy Stash Tabs

The game bombards you with new item types that you will want to collect, and even after learning how to throw or sell useless items, you end up with an extremely small stash space for manoeuvrer. All fully F2P players know that they cannot keep even items that they will need later, which they either have to put in alt characters made specifically for storage, or sell it and then re-buy it later. Currency has extremely low stack sizes which will force you to constantly upscale it, and you could be forced to downscale it at loss if you need it

 Very high learning curve

There's quite a lot to learn when starting to play Path of Exile. There are the mechanics, the crafting system, and the skill gem system. However, the most intimidating factor is the massive skill tree with over 1000 skill nodes, 6 classes and 19 subclasses, allowing you to create hundreds of unique builds. Unfortunately, creating a functional build is really difficult, taking hours of theorycrafting, so it might be better to stick to guides as you're starting out, unless you're fine with possibly messing up.

 Clunky trading system

The western PC version of Path of Exile currently requires using an external site to find deals or sifting through scam attempts in the trade chat. After you find an item you want to buy, you need to message the seller, and if they respond, enter the same area as them to make a direct trade. There is no auction house, no mail, no automated trading posts, and to sell stuff you have to buy a premium stash tab via a microtransaction.

 Endgame can get really repetitive

It takes an exceptionally long time to get any wealth, useful items, or access to endgame bosses in this game. You endlessly farm the same maps, hoping you'll get lucky with a few good items, but that usually won't be the case, which can be really discouraging to keep playing. This is made worse by the fact that your character progression comes to a grinding halt near the upper 80s of character levels, requiring you to buy insanely expensive items to feel any progression at all. If you don't like grinding, you'll get quickly bored of Path of Exile.

The developers have a strict "no pay to win" mindset on this game. Which is GREAT since everyone has a fair chance at winning. The only in-game purchases are decorative, extra stash slots, non combat pets and better graphics for your weapons. (*) Trading is disabled in game unless you buy premium stash tabs, currency stacks to insanely small amounts unless you buy a special stash tab, overall your storage space will be your worse enemy and you will always be loosing time or currency from selling items and rebuying them when needed (if you can even manage to sell them)

While not the worst, the graphics do not really stand out as polished and look somewhat dated. While it does fit within theme of being a grimy universe with many foul creatures, it does not compare to many AAA dungeon crawlers out there such as Diablo III.

 Endgame grinding can get really repetitive

The endgame in Diablo III consists of only two things – completing bounties and clearing greater rifts. Both of these have very little variation in them, so quite often you'll run through the same map layouts, clear the same enemies, and complete the same objectives. This gets extremely stale after long play sessions and can cause you not to pick up the game again.

About 30 activated skills per class, 5 unique runes per activated ability that modify how it behaves, and randomized gear that can further change how your character plays. Your playstyle might dramatically change based off of how you want to cater to your team, what abilities you might have just unlocked, and whether or not you want your goblins fried or diced.

Once beaten, the game adds an option to play over at a higher skill level, which also allows for better chances at better loot not found in the first run. This makes for much replayability through gameplay that may earn the player newer rewards.

A permanent death mode is available for play. Allowing extra adrenaline as all your hard work may be erased in a single lag spike.

 Really big boost in experience if playing of hard

By playing the game on higher difficulties users get a 75-1600% boost to their experience, which makes for a great reason to deal with hordes of very difficult enemies where one simple mistake ends in death.

 Less focused around growth than previous installments

Previous Diablo games were known for having permanent improvements throughout the game, where Diablo 3 focuses more on customization as you increase in levels rather than improving your abilities. There's a chance that you will unlock your favorite ability at level 5 (I'm looking at you, Rapid Fire) and never use anything else in the game, because you can. Many people consider this an issue with Diablo 3, and expected more of the "specialist" style of gameplay.
