Pros
Pro Chromium / Chrome and legacy Firefox Plugins for sending bookmarks to Turtl application
Pro Note sharing functionality
Effortless. No nexcloud, home server, etc. Maybe don't trust your most valuable information here, because it's not known enough about the framework involved. However, it feels much more secure here than with Big Tech. The track record is wonderful. Never a problem. More features would be nice, such as a little bit more control over the interface. Quilpad is an option, but the synchronization option is a big pain in the neck. There are other glitches in the program, as well. It's just much more user friendly than turtl, which has a command line like feel, but there's no security.
Cons
Con Internet dependent
Requires Internet connection to initiate offline mode, loses access to notes without Internet or server.
Yes, it requires an internet connection to view your notes. That's part of the secure login process. However, even if you uninstall it from all of your devices, as long as you have an account, you can easily retrieve everything as it was.
Con No offline access
Turtl is a very great note-taking app that supports privacy and availability except it does not work without internet connection. If you are out on a job, and your phone is dead or has no wireless tether, you lose the ability to perform the initial decryption necessary to access your Turtl account, unless you have a SIM in your laptop. If you already have the app open, then it is a non-issue, but say the app crashes, or you have to reboot your machine; no more notes - none.
Recommendation: if what you are doing requires that stable and secure of a note taking application, you should probably be looking at enterprise-level applications. Or use a simple note taking app to just jot some notes down, and then put the pieces together once you're back online.
Con Installation & Permission Problems are common
Requires terminal commands to configure and root to run.
