 Tons of replayability thanks to DLC

While DLC has the potential to introduce imbalance, with purchased items that give advantage, so far CoH 2 has not had this issue. What it does offer through DLC is new campaigns and features such as Twitch support. This allows for more to be added to the game to do and see, which keeps players that enjoy the game coming back when purchasing these items. Other things such as cosmetics can also be purchased through DLC (really micro-transactions), which do not impact gameplay at all but offer a way to individualize oneself from the masses.

 Top of its class in graphics for an RTS

While not a huge improvement over the first game in the series (Company of Heroes), the graphics to be found in CoH2 are still quite astounding for an RTS. Being that the genre tends to have many moving parts in any given level, the graphics tend to take a backseat to gameplay, but CoH 2 decided to offer better graphics than most in a very rich and detailed environment as well as troops. There will be plenty of realistic explosions to watch, as well as smoke after the fact that looks quite real. The animations to be found are also quite good, troops run as you would expect real people to run, vehicles move exactly as expected as well. Just about anything in the graphics department for this game stands out with a ton of polish.

 Great multiplayer

The multiplayer of the game tends to be where the majority of fun can be seen. While single player is a worthwhile en-devour in the game, it just can not stand up against playing with real people. The included multiplayer has plenty of competitive maps as well as a section of co-op maps that are similar to the campaign mode (though not as plentiful).

 More of a focus on smart planning over APM

Company of Heroes 2 is an RTS game that focuses more on smart decision making of micro unit control over macro control and actions per minute. This allows for a more deep strategy to the game as user will need to think aggressively and quickly. Strategy plays a big part as units can utilize cover with buildings as well as vehicles. The action on screen can often be slow which also allows for more micro management and planned out attacks.

Upped from the original game the player is able to control up to 135 units, which is quite a lot of micromanagement for those that are interested.

 Flame weapons feel over powered

When facing off against units or vehicles that use flame weapons, the users troops can be killed a little too quickly. being that the weapons can often come out of nowhere, it can be frustrating as the level will most likely need to be replayed with the knowledge that flame weapons will be coming up.

 Gameplay can be quite hectic

Some of the missions in the game can require the player to keep track of up to 135 units at once, on three different fronts at that , which can be difficult to manage. While not completely unmanageable, this is something to consider for those that want something a bit more simplistic out of their RTS.

The cutscenes, even though they are not animated with the in game engine look pretty abysmal. Why they are animated so poorly is unknown, but it definitely stands out.

 Well written and acted

The story in the game is well fleshed out. It is a fictional story about if the Nazis took over the world after WWII, which is not a new premise, but has so many little touches that really create an immersive story that the player cares about. This is where the animation and voice acting of the game comes into play, with things like subtle eye rolls or twirling of thumbs to inflections in a characters voice. It gives a sense that these people in the story are real and when complimented with a well written plot, it makes for a great experience.

The majority of the game holds at a steady 60fps while being played in 1080p or slightly less. This makes for a visually appealing game thanks to the solid framerate in what is often full HD.

Certain points of the game may drop the resolution down to 1760x1080 (from 1920x1080) in order to keep the gameplay running at 60 frames per second, while this does not happen often, it does happen.

 Stealth gameplay that rewards patience

Taking your time to sneak up to a vantage point and line up your sniper scope with the enemy's head pays off in Sniper Elite 4. Avoiding detection and sticking to high points will be your best bet for stealth gameplay, with options to climb up buildings or sneak through shrubbery or behind walls to get to where you need to be. If you're spotted, you can pull out a handgun and dispatch enemies that way, but it's not as efficient as sniping enemies from a safe distance and remaining undetected.

 Freedom to tackle levels however you want

Sniper Elite 4 puts you in large, open sandbox levels with the freedom to achieve your objective in any way you want. If you're tasked with dispatching enemy units on the map, you can choose to take out the commander first to confuse everyone and lower their morale, or you can take everyone out one by one as you locate them. You can shoot at explosive barrels to eliminate a group of enemies all at once, aim for the engine of a vehicle for an ever bigger explosion, or go in guns blazing without stealth or sniper rifles.

 Satisfying slow-motion X-Ray kill shots

While killing enemies, the camera will slow down as the bullet crosses the map, outlining the target's skeleton and internal organs in an X-Ray view to show you exactly how the shot goes through them. Lining up the perfect sniper shot and watching as the bullet crosses the map and crushes through the enemy's skeleton and flesh is a visceral experience. The movement of the camera as it zooms in and captures the spattering blood and cracking bones is the most unique part of the gameplay. Getting to see that level of detail reinforces the importance of every shot, making each bullet more valuable.

 Higher difficulties offer nuanced challenges

There are four difficulty levels: Cadet, Marksman, Sniper Elite, and Authentic, with the real challenges and unique changes starting at Sniper Elite. At this setting, there's no aim assist, and shots that are longer than 300 meters are much harder to pull off due to realistic ballistics in each sniper rifle. The Authentic difficulty ramps things up even more, with no aim assist and no UI elements on the interface.

Your starter gear will likely stay with you throughout the entire game, as new guns you receive don't have too many boosts in power or precision. At most, you may choose another gun because of the way it looks, such as a camoflauge skin or an all-black rifle instead.

Sniper Elite 4 doesn't do much with its story beyond telling you where to go in order to kill more Nazis. The plot doesn't try to make any commentary on the necessity of war, and it doesn't do enough with groups like the Italian Resistance or the mafia. You won't find anything new or groundbreaking here with the writing or narrative.

Sometimes the enemy AI is smart, calling in backup to surround you once you're spotted, or making clever sweeps throughout your last known location to find you. But other times, the enemy will stare right at you from only a few feet away, or remain knelt behind cover without noticing you dispatching other units right next to them.

Even though there are no gimmicks like jetpacks or wall-running, the gameplay in CoD: WWII is all-around solid. The controls are responsive, the aiming is fluid, and each gun handles really well. Whether you're blasting enemy soldiers with your shotgun up close or if you're picking them off with your sniper rifle from afar, it feels great. It's the type of gameplay that can grab the interest of most players and keep them coming back for more.

 Interesting multiplayer mode

While the multiplayer is fairly decent as a whole, the War Mode is the most noteworthy aspect of it. It's a narrative driven multiplayer mode where one team must complete objectives such as repairing a bridge, sabotaging equipment, destroying gun emplacements, and so forth, while the other team tries to stop them. This is a welcome deviation from the usual "run around a map in circles and shoot everyone" type of gameplay, giving you a very focused multiplayer mode that rewards teamwork, which can be really engaging even to players that aren't into competitive shooters.

 Engaging singleplayer campaign

The campaign focuses on a US marine's journey through WWII, taking you to many well-known battles of the war such as D-Day, Liberation of Paris, and even Battle of the Bulge. It's an excellent mix of interesting main characters, well-written dialogue, excellent action set pieces, dramatic moments, and some unexpected twists along the way. Even though the campaign might last you only about 6 hours, it's still thoroughly enjoyable, giving you a very interactive movie-like experience.

 Pointless microtransactions

Call of Duty: WWII is yet another game that is plagued by microtransactions, allowing players to buy in-game currency point bundles priced from $2 up to $100. While it can be a means to sustain development for new content and updates in other games, CoD: WWII will just get replaced by the next installment within a year, so it's just a means to up the profit margin by milking players via their loot box addiction.

 Gun balance problems in multiplayer

Some guns such as the STG-44 or the BAR are a cut above the rest, allowing you to kill enemies quicker and from further away than their counterparts. If you switch to an inferior gun, the difference is painfully obvious, making gameplay much harder for you. This is mostly because a slight difference in weapon damage and range can determine if you live or die in multiplayer. As a result, experimenting with other weapons feels unrewarding, causing every player to default to the good weapons.
