The story is nothing new with many elements that are too familiar at this point. A Reluctant hero and a cold government agent mixed with a plot that can bee seen from miles away points to a lack of imagination while trying to create a game for the masses.

The poorly written plot ends in a very anticlimatic ending. The end of Dying Light acts as a cliff hanger that leads to its expansion - The Following, but that doesn't do justice to the original game.

Sadly Dying Light does not do multi-threading very well which results in low framerates. For a modern game that is to be played on consoles with 8 cores or PCs that also have multiple cores, to not take advantage of proper multi-threading is pretty mind boggling. Really it just comes down to laziness, something that is not new to Techland and their poorly optimized ports.

 Cool naval combat against other pirates out on the open seas

Naval battles with your own ship and crew are expanded here in Black Flag after they were first introduced in Assassin's Creed III. You're a pirate this time, so you get to explore the open world with your ship as much as you want. The bread and butter of the game involves you as the captain of your ship, navigating out in the open waters to get from place to place, as well as getting hands-on with the full mechanics of steering while firing off cannons at enemy ships. There's a full crew aboard with you, helping to give plenty of liveliness to your surroundings as they shout in anger, sing shanties, and cheer in victory as you go along, along with dynamic weather like raging storms that adds to the realism and intensity. It's a lot of fun and serves as a nice way to break things up from the usual stealth missions on foot.

The stealth mechanics feel natural and fluid in how strategic they are. While tracking your targets, you blend in with each city's citizens or climb up to the tops of buildings to perch there and avoid getting spotted by the templar or their guards. You can either wait for the perfect opportunity to strike with a hidden blade up your sleeve that silently assassinates your target, or you can go all-out and have a sword duel with them if you'd rather take a more aggressive approach. After they're dead, you make your escape and become incognito again. Everything goes together nicely in a way that feels satisfying.

 Multiplayer is pretty much dead

Unfortunately, the multiplayer is all but abandoned by the player base. Even though the multiplayer itself is really cool and fun, you won't find too many people playing it these days. Since the game originally came out in 2013, it's quite old now, and it doesn't help that the devs don't actively update it anymore. The Assassin's Creed multiplayer base in general is also splintered between this game and the other installments with online play. So if you're a new player trying to get into things, don't be surprised if it takes a long time to find a match.

Since there's no dedicated story campaign, there is instead a narrative woven into the multiplayer gameplay. Before you drop down to each mission, you get a brief cinematic with an explanation of your objective and what's at stake. These stories all add up to an arching plot that guides you through the multiplayer. Throughout the missions, you also unlock new Titans for you to use while playing in regular multiplayer matches. Even though the story here isn't much, it's something, at the very least.

 Jetpacks and wall-running let you move around more freely

While playing as a regular soldier, you have great mobility with jetpacks that allow you to run on walls. Maps are designed with verticality in mind, giving players options to use their jetpacks to climb above the opposition for a better vantage point. It also gives you a leg up when facing against a Titan, since you can always run along a nearby wall to get on top of the mech to take it down. This helps to make sure than infantry soldiers aren't just weak fodder for Titans to take out, with their speed and parkour abilities as their main advantages.

 You can use powerful mechs called Titans for their added defense and high-powered weapons

Aside from playing as a regular infantry soldier, there are also huge mechs on the battlefield, known as Titans, that you can control. As soon as a player gets in the cockpit, that's when you know that the tides are about to turn. Titans are big enough to act as tanks for your allies, soaking up damage and dealing a ton more with their specialized guns, giving your team a huge advantage just by having one with you. But they're not all-powerful, since a normal soldier can get on a Titan's back to dismantle it and take it down, even though it won't be easy. Titans are strong without being overpowered, turning battles into power plays to see who can take out the enemy team's mechs the fastest.

Titanfall is a great team-based FPS game with well-designed gunplay. Running and gunning with your team of six friends or online players is fast-paced, with tons of destruction on the battlefield all around you. You rely on twitch reflexes to gun down enemies as soon as you see one rounding a corner, or to react in time to someone shooting at you and taking you by surprise. Though there aren't too many guns to choose from, the ones you can pick are each unique and fun to use. Everything feels balanced in a way that's well thought-out, leading to frantic and intense multiplayer matches.

Having everything online means you're at the mercy of your internet connection.  Stormtrooper NPCs are present on the battlefield as allies and enemies

Maps and missions feel realistic thanks to the stormtrooper units that you see during matches. Some are part of your team, acting as guides to your next objective and moral support in the way their voiced lines express appreciation for your presence on the battlefield. The enemy team also has groups of these same NPCs, with certain multiplayer modes focusing on you taking out certain number of them in order to dwindle their numbers. Overall, they help populate the maps to make them feel like actual missions with soldiers accompanying you or opposing you, making things feel more epic.

 A vibrant and enticing world

AC Origins story unfolds in a pretty rare setting of Ancient Egypt under the rule of Cleopatra and Julius Caesar. The world feels alive and atmospheric with its diverse scenery and it just begs to be explored. You can run through bustling monumental cities, traverse the vast sandy deserts on the back of a camel or a horse, get some rest in a lush green palm tree-lined oasis, float down the Nile in a little dinghy - all this moving around rewards you with breathtaking and sometimes unexpected views, be it a golden pyramid or a rampaging horde of hippos. The map is massive, but it doesn't feel overwhelming because the movement is fast-paced, so much so that you can easily choose to avoid fast-travel. The setting, especially in the cities with their marble palaces, hieroglyph-covered obelisks, and sandstone monuments, lends itself well to the usual for Assassin's Creed climbing and free running.

 Choose from a variety of stealth tricks

While sneaking around in AC Origins is mostly simple crouching in the bushes and hiding behind the trees or buildings, the stealthy killing and distraction part is really varied and fun. For instance, you can get the Predator Bow that lets you remotely steer your arrows after firing them, even get them to turn around a corner. The natural day/night cycle encourages you to use the darkness to hide your approach and take on the guards when there are likely less of them awake. You can also use sleep and poison darts, or open the enclosures of the animals so that they create distractions and even attack your enemies. You can even take control of your pet eagle and scout an area beforehand, allowing you to mark enemies. When control returns to your character, you'll be able to see the marks even through walls.

Like in most RPGs, the quests in AC Origins can feel a little grindy, but this time you might not even notice it until you're deep into the game. Each quest is layered and wrapped in a different story, which adds to the overall lore of the game and hides the fact that it's still your basic "go kill the bad guy" or "get me this amount of that thing". A quite straightforward-looking quest might turn out to be anything but.

The combat mechanics in this game require much more thinking-through than in the previous AC games. There's almost no chance to easily defeat multiple enemies at once, you need to block, parry, and know when to change your weapon. You have the ability to either deal a huge one-hit blow or supercharge your weapon by maxing out an adrenaline bar.

Scaling the tallest places gives you an amazing bird's eye view of the city and the mountain ranges beyond, along with a vantage point to plan out how to assassinate your targets. The realistic architecture makes Assassin's Creed Unity feel like a true period piece set in Revolutionary Paris.

The main missions are all structured the same without much variety. You're assigned a target to kill, you go to the specified city, you get a few means of tracking them down, and then you assassinate them. It's the same formula for every single target until the final mission. The only thing that breaks the monotony is that you get to choose your approach on how to kill your target. Pretty much everything else falls into the same routine that drags on for too long.

As the main protagonist, Altaïr is kind of boring. His voice acting is emotionless and he doesn't really grow as a character. He does what his superiors tell him to do and just goes along for the ride in the story. You won't get to know much about him as a person, only the things that revolve around his role as an assassin. Getting to see more of him beyond the main story would have helped to flesh him out some more.

The echoing choruses and unsettling backtracks give a sense that you're on a tense, but mysterious mission to assassinate the templars in the Holy Land that the game takes place in. There's a measured thoughtfulness and caution that you pick up on as well, almost like the songs themselves mimic you as you stalk your targets while you blend in with the crowd. It's such a cool experimental sound that the composer, Jesper Kyd, manages to pull off well, keeping you engrossed as you play and listen.

The story in Assassin's Creed is full of intriguing ideologies and philosophies. It's a familiar tale of liberty and freedom on the Assassin side and law and order on the Templar side, but it still feels fresh. Playing as Altaïr, it's up to you to assassinate certain templar targets who oppress the masses and horde power for themselves. As you take them down, you learn about their views on controlling the populace, encouraging you to question if the assassins are truly on the right path. Thankfully, the game doesn't tell you what to think, leaving you to draw your own conclusions.

The ending is weird. There's a sudden twist that happens with no real explanation, and it seems to happen just to shock you. The final wrap up also leaves out a lot of information about this twist, leaving things open for a sequel. You more than likely will end up confused by the whole thing.

 Not great as a parkour game

There are better parkour games, like Mirror's Edge, that have better pacing, real parcour, less cutscenes, first-person view, and a sympathetic protagonist.

 Open-world gameplay

Unlike the original game which was pretty linear, Catalyst allows for more of an open-world experience, so it is up to the user how they want to traverse the world when they need to accomplish a mission, which really frees people up to experiment and enjoy the free running aspect a lot more.

 Skill upgrades

A new addition over the original is skill upgrades through Faiths gloves. As the player progresses they can unlock new features for the gloves which will open up more things one can do in the game.

 Gunplay removed

The original game had gunplay in it for combat, while not the best implementation it could have been expanded on. Catalyst has removed all gunplay to allow for hand to hand combat. So for those that did enjoy the gunplay in the original game, it will be completely absent in the new release.
