It's not getting in your way. You write markdown as you do in every simple text editor. No short-cuts needed. When leaving the current line Typora renders your input.
When re-entering the line, it displays the source. This even works for diagrams and formulae.
However, if you would like to format your code using short-cuts. There also are intuitive key combinations available.
