This is my go-to mic. I have other more sophisticated rigs for challenging environments, but I use this more than 90% of the time. I wish this device was not exclusively for iOS devices only, but it is so convenient and discreet to use. I wish a lavalier mic could be plugged into this unit, but the onboard mic works well for my needs (voice to text). See More
The blinking light is very seldom and dim. In a lighted room or outdoors during the day One can block out the light with hands to see if it's on or off. Or watch the Bluetooth connectivity on my phone disappear. A minor nitpick. The upside is that it's unlikely to cause an issue for filming purposes since the blinking part of the unit will be facing down inside a shirt pocket or on the collar of the shirt etc. See More
This microphone can easily pass for a pen if you place the microphone like a pen in a shirt pocket with the clip showing on the outside of the pocket like this. This link shows an image of a different microphone, until I have the time to take a picture this will serve to get the idea across. See More
This unit uses the microphone jack to charge. This means if you lose the included charging cable, you might be stuck waiting and unable to record with the unit until your replacement unit arrived. Other units that use more standard and available Micro USB, to charge this is less of a problem. See More
With this product, you are connecting the unit (the transceiver) directly to your tablet, phone, or other Bluetooth enabled device (the receiver). No receiver is supplied with this product. You must have something compatible for this to work with either the A2DP or HSP Bluetooth profile. On iOS this does not work for Apple's built-in apps, but for some 3rd party apps, you can use your phone as the receiver. For Android it likely won't be as much of an issue. YMMV. See More
If latency lag is a concern, consider purchasing the Alead Nolan LiveMICRX2 instead as it has the same transmitter as this product and a Bluetooth receiver that claims 10x lower latency (meaning 10x faster transmission and receiving) than most Bluetooth devices. Using linked product would mean your mobile device would have to have a 3.5 mm microphone jack as that is how the receiever would connect to your mobile device. You can also buy the Nolan receiver a la cart, although you lose the savings (~$2 at the time of this writing) by buying it in a bundle. It is also possible to purchase other stand-alone Bluetooth audio receivers or USB Bluetooth dongles (for computers) depending on your needs. See More

The technology used with this product is digital, the same frequency as wireless routers. When out of range, it just drops the [audio] connection. The flip side is you know that if you have a link, you won't have the creeping noise issues of analog wireless systems when going beyond the range capabilities of the unit. See More
All the user needs to do is pair the transceiver and receiver unit after putting in fresh batteries and that's about it. The paired units will automatically monitor and change to the best radio signal throughout a session. Users have not mentioned any issues with noise even in heavy radio congested areas. See More
The transceiver can still connect to compatible mobile devices directly by Bluetooth. But if latency becomes an issue such as with an echo effect, the included receiver can be used so long as the mobile device in question has a 3.5 mm jack for the receiver to connect to. Having a receiver means the system can be setup to work like a Chromecast Audio enabling wired speakers or headsets with wireless capabilities. It is possible to use a different Bluetooth receiver than the one the manufacturer made and included in this combo, but YMMV. A USB to Bluetooth adapter was a commonly added item on Amazon for the Nolan LiveMIC2, presumably for laptops and computers with less than Bluetooth 4.1 capabilities, so it's a path well traveled. " The product is not searchable on Amazon but can be found via a 3rd party search engine. It is suspected that this product is discontinued. It is unknown whether a new version of the product is set to replace this product. See More
