Pros
Pro Quite straightforward to use and not overly cluttered
There have been some complaints about the interface because you have to click a couple of times to complete a function; while the complaint is understandable, the extremely "busy" icon based UI's in most platforms are far more cumbersome just to find the function required. Though the interface of eM Client is not necessarily what you might describe as modern, it is quite functional.
Cons
Con V8 Calendar has way to much white space and therefore does not show as many entries for a given day as the old V7 did
Con Quite slow when the database is in a cloud sharing folder and crashes periodically because of it
Instead of the backup function that is built into the application, where you can backup once a day, it would be VERY useful to be able to simply place the underlying database in DropBox or the like (Sync, Box, Drive, etc) and not have to worry about the 24 hour lag in the backups. It works well most of the time, but then periodically eM Client would crash when the Internet connection was being taxed and the recovery from a crash in eM Client is VERY cumbersome.
Con View formatting is not replicated based on user preference
While eM Client has allowed the user to copy the folder view characteristics from one folder to another, any new folder reverts to the eM Client default, not a user specified one. The simple solution would be to replicate the view characteristics of the folder 1 step up in the tree so if you create 50 subfolders within a mother folder, the characteristics of the mother folder would be replicated in the new subfolders. Instead you have to keep redoing the copy function and it's a pain.
Con Poor encryption support
If you regularly use PGP encryption for e-mail, you'll need to have another e-mail client available to rely on. eM Client frequently fails to recognize when messages arrive encrypted, and there's no way to manually call up the decryption menu if it misses one.
Con Poor integration with Yahoo Mail
Integrations with a Yahoo Mail account doesn't always work well in eM Client.
