The Demon Podium helmet is lightweight and well ventilated to keep your head cool even on summer rides. It has a detachable visor for sunny days, and the fit can be adjusted to fit a cap underneath for colder winter days.
After a few rides, sweat and dust will inevitably build up in and around your helmet. You can easily clean it with a washcloth, and by putting the detachable padding in the washing machine.
The Obsidian comes in 2 sizes- S and M/L, and the minute details of the fit are adjusted by using the built-in click dials. This helmet adjusts both horizontally and vertically.
This helmet might be too tight for people with a larger-than-average head, as this helmet comes in two sizes only and there's only so far you can go with the adjustable dial. The sizing starts at around 50cm in diameter, so it will definitely be too big for toddlers.
The Demon Podium helmet is great for extreme cycling, for example, downhill, dirt jumping, BMX and mountain biking. It's lightweight (2lbs. 2oz), doesn't obstruct vision, hearing or breathing, goggles and GoPro cameras fit on it well.
The strap of your goggles can fit around the Demon Podium, and they will nestle in to the sides of this helmet, keeping them in place. This way, you don't have to worry about anything rubbing between your skin and the interior of the helmet.
The chin guard may look daunting, but it's located the perfect distance away from your mouth, so it doesn't obstruct breathing or speaking, and doesn't rub against your skin.
You can keep the visor out of your line of sight, or adjust it lower over your eyes simply by pulling at it or pushing it further up. The side edges of the helmet are the perfect distance away not to get in the way of your peripheral vision.
This helmet is very lightweight (8-10 oz, depending on the size), which is great for longer rides because it prevents muscle fatigue in your neck. It has 25 vents, which will keep your head cool even on more strenuous rides.
The straps don't lie flat , and it can be difficult to adjust them right. There have been complaints about the straps digging into the back of the neck.
When compared to similar helmets at a higher price, the Giro Savant is louder due to the design of the vents. Although Giro have put a lot of emphasis on keeping you cool in the Savant, they have also made riding at high speeds rather noisy as the wind flows through the vents.
