Cons
Con Not a good starting place for beginners
It's best to have at least a basic understanding of programming before tackling the exercises on exercism.io. You also have to know how to set up your development environment, as you will be coding everything locally (versus websites that provide you an editor right in the browser).
Con Custom command line submission tool is a security concern for both parties
Website owners should not need users to download and run an executable to submit them basic text information. This alone is such a huge red flag, security concerns aside, because they've settled on possibly the most complicated "solution" to a non-problem.

Very nice website. I have just been on there for an hour, and learned a lot from the solutions of other programmers.

The mentor system is a cool idea, but waiting for feedback could be a huge barrier when the site scales up in size. Asking me to download an executable to submit them source code is a red flag, since this is not the way any modern website has users submit data.
