Even though there are various upgrades and progression bonuses in Halo 5's multiplayer, it is enjoyable even before unlocking any of them. This is because it puts emphasis on player skill, allowing you to have fun without getting punished for not having invested enough time in it. The only way it starts feeling unfair is when you meet players that outmatch your skill level by a lot.

Pros
Pro Created by Bungie, a well known studio for making quality games
Created by the same company that created Halo, this spiritual successor has the familiar feel with some refined game play and the polish and quality you'd expect. The DLC coming out with Taken King has also been good, and expand on the game quite nicely.
Pro MMO experience
An MMO experience in a FPS game; Bungie has done quite well with making attaining gear and weapons enjoyable through single and multiplayer content. Taken King made the grind much less of a chore and more enjoyable as well, and made the whole leveling process better with refinements to all aspects of the game.
Pro Customizable gear/weapons
Destiny has a great system to customize gear and weapons with different color options and designs, as well as acquiring different gear through playable content.
Pro Balanced multiplayer
Even though there are various upgrades and progression bonuses in Halo 5's multiplayer, it is enjoyable even before unlocking any of them. This is because it puts emphasis on player skill, allowing you to have fun without getting punished for not having invested enough time in it. The only way it starts feeling unfair is when you meet players that outmatch your skill level by a lot.
Pro Feels great to play
It doesn't matter if you're playing single player, co-op, or competitive multiplayer, Halo 5 always is a blast to play. This is partly because of the sharp and fluid controls, awesome gunplay, and the great graphics run at a smooth 60 fps. It's also because the gameplay just flows so nicely, from performing takedowns on enemies, to shooting your laser rifle, to even ramming your jeep into an unsuspecting alien, Halo 5 as a whole feels really enjoyable.
Pro Great co-op
You can play the campaign with up to 3 other players, which increases the fun by quite a bit. You get the sense of being in an actual squad of elite soldiers that cover and support each other, making it feel really awesome to destroy aliens and robots with the help of your fellow Spartan soldiers. It's the type of feeling you simply can't get with AI companions.
Cons
Con Imbalanced multiplayer
While stats from gear is equalized during multiplayer, perks from legendary weapons and armor give a real advantage to players who have put in more time. Not a problem that makes it unplayable, but newer players might get frustrated when skill is not the only factor.
Con Short single player/co-op campaign
A single playthrough takes only about 5 hours on average, so if you don't like replaying campaigns or if you don't enjoy competitive multiplayer, you won't be able to enjoy Halo 5 for very long.
Con No local multiplayer
While there is online co-op/multiplayer, Halo 5 has no local split screen co-op/multiplayer. This means you can only play with your friends/family over the internet, with each of you needing a separate console and a copy of the game.
