Pros
Pro Good resource for consulting the API
Although it can be confusing for beginners, once you get the basic concepts, the React documentation is great to consult when writing applications and to find function names or methods which you might have forgotten.
Pro Teaches more than just React
Learning React on its own is rather useless if you don't know how to use the tools that go with it. ReactJS Program also teaches students things like Webpack, NPM, Babel, etc...
Cons
Con A bit confusing for beginners
The official React documentation does not do a good job in explaining the fundamental concepts as easily as possible to a beginner. In fact, it sometimes skips the fundamentals altogether. This is probably because the documentation was written by engineers who have worked on React and that never had to learn it themselves.
