Pros
Pro Great camera - especially in low light
The Huawei Honor 8 uses a dual-camera setup to gather more details about the picture, and capture the best shot possible. One of the sensors is a 'regular' 12MP camera, while the other is a black-and-white sensor. This is the same camera layout the iPhone 7 uses, and a similar idea to the Galaxy S7 (the S7 uses dual-pixels instead of a duel lens setup). The B & W sensor helps autofocus achieve an accurate focus extremely quick, and also helps lowlight shots substantially.
Pro Excellent performance
Huawei makes their own in-house processors, and the Honor 8 uses one of these HiSilicon Kirin 950. It offers comparable performance to the Snapdragon 820 found in 2016's best phones - the LG G5, HTC 10, Galaxy S7, OnePlus 3 and others. There is also 4GB of RAM which keeps many apps loaded at once allowing for quick multitasking, furthermore making the phone feel exceptionally quick.
Pro Amazing fingerprint scanner
The Honor 8 is made by Huawei - the same manufacturer that made the Nexus 6P from 2015, which was partially known for it's amazing fingerprint scanner. They're repeated this success in the Honor 8. You can place your finger on the scanner when the display is off, and in a matter of milliseconds the phone will be unlocked (no need to press any buttons or wake the phone prior).
The scanner is also located at a very convenient location - along the middle axis about 3/4 the way up the back of the phone. This is where your index finger usually rests when holding the phone, which means when you reach into your pocket to pick up your phone it will be unlocked by the time you get a chance to look at the screen without the need to re-adjust your grip. The downside is that you can't unlock it using the fingerprint scanner while it lays flat on a table or desk.
Pro Can be used as a universal remote control
Thanks to the addition of a hardware IR blaster located on the top of the phone, you can control your TV as well as other supported appliances (fans, air conditioners, etc) that use remote controls. This adds a lot of convenience, even if it isn't a headlining feature.
Pro Can be comfortably used with one hand
The rounded corners found in the XZ Premium make it easy to use this phone with one hand, even though the large bezels might make it harder for people with small hands.
Pro Manages to produce excellent headphone audio
The XZ Premium supports high-resolution audio with ALAC, DSD, FLAC, and LPCM file formats. Listening to music through headphones is a real treat with uniformly crisp highs, mids, and lows.
Pro Can handle plenty of multitasking without lag or stutter
The 4GB of RAM and the Snapdragon 835 found in the XZ Premium are more than enough to provide some excellent performance with nary a stutter.
Pro Manages to capture excellent photos
The 19MP primary camera is packed with features. For starters, it has same RGB and IR sensors that improve color reproduction and focus speed respectively. There's also a CMOS sensor with phase detection autofocus that helps with low-light shooting. Finally, there's Motion Eye: a memory-embedded sensor that immediately processes images to minimize distortion.
All of this hardware packed together manages to capture some of the most detailed and high-quality photos a smartphone can take, coming extremely close to the quality of photos taken by the S8 which is considered to have the best camera for this generation of smartphones.
Pro Displays the sharpest images out of any smartphone today
The Xperia XZ Premium has a 5.5inch 4K display. It roughly has around 807 pixels per inch, which is far more pixels than the competition manages to display on their phone. This results in the sharpest images ever seen on a smartphone display.
Cons
Con Poor speaker quality
The speaker isn't anything to write home about. It doesn't provide a full range of sound, nor does it get very loud.
Con Sub-par software
The software can be a bit frustrating at times. There's a lot of bloatware, and Huawei has tinkered with Android's scrolling speed to make it slower. It also won't allow you to click at all until the scrolling has completely stopped. The theme looks a bit like iOS, and it also lacks an app drawer.
Con Outdated design
The Xperia XZ Premium has not changed much on the design department compared to the Xperia XZ. It features a design with rounded corners and a large screen surrounded by large bezels, a design choice that has been falling out of favour lately.
Con The audio coming from the speakers feels rather flat
Even though it has stereo speakers the audio quality coming from them is rather poor. It feels flat and tinny even at the highest volume.
