Bosses and mini-bosses add variety to the game.

The controls are pretty tight, feel good.
Pro Can use 30fps for battery, or 60fps for smoothness
Feels nice on 60fps.
Pro Music and lighting have a real dungeon feel to them, suits the game
Dark and gloomy, but not too scary since it's just top-down so that's always comical to an extent.

You can go from fighting hard to beat basic creeps in the beginning to rapidly finding some gear that allows you to one-shot smaller enemies, really makes you feel powerful.

Graphics and fonts are pixel perfect.
Pro Retro look, sound & feel
Authentic 8bit visuals, sound & music. Also with authentic low screen resolution.

Pro Humorous with nerd culture references
The game has a good sense of humor with many inside jokes referencing things such as Tolkien, Lovecraft as well as modern day dev. culture.
Pro Tons of loot
Cons
Con The game is too dark for use in bright conditions on a phone
At least some of the levels have quite dark lighting, so you might struggle playing outdoors or in a very bright environment.
Con Getting really good gear means risking it all
Since it's a roguelike, you die and lose your awesome gear... Not a big con but if you get too invested in one life it can smash you a bit.
Con Hard to aim ranged characters at first
The controls are good, but it is a touch-screen game, so your accuracy is going to be limited a bit by your digitizer hardware... Bumping from 30fps to 60fps mode does help though.
Con Limited starting characters
Starting characters are limited and random, which can be frustrating, especially when the game is centered around restarting many, many times.
Con No roguelite features
Pixel Heroes subscribes to Roguelike rules where there is zero carry over from previous playthroughs. When compared to the small amount of progression seen in Roguelites this may be a turn off for some users.
Con Status effects overpowered
Status effects have too much of an advantage over the player, which means a focus has to be on countering them, leaving other elements to not be focused on due to being under-powered in comparison.
Con Not a lot of inventory space for storage of items
