All of the hardware has been selected and tested for compatibility with Ubuntu, without headaches. That usually means it works flawlessly on other distros too.
Pro Powerful CPU
Has a quad-core i7-4770HQ CPU.
Pro Iris Pro Graphics
Four times the graphics power of other i7 ultrabooks.
Pro Lots of connectivity
WiFi, Bluetooth, 3x USB 3 ports, HDMI, Mini DisplayPort, Ethernet, headphone jack, mic jack. It has everything you need to work on the go or hook up to a bigger display.
Pro Great screen
Comes with a 1080P IPS matte display which also lets you use the Galago UltraPro outside in the open without being afraid of any annoying glare.
Pro Great value for money
Pro Reasonable performance
UX305 comes in 2 CPU configurations (0.8 GHz M 5Y10 that can be overclocked to 2GHz or 1.2 GHz M 5Y71 that can be overclocked to 2.9 Ghz), has an Intel HD Graphics 5300 GPU and options of 4 and 8 GB of RAM. While it won't be enough for gaming, it provides enough power for most office and development tasks. For example, the base model is capable of streaming an 1080p video without stutter.
Pro 10-hour battery life
The 1080p laptop drains the battery in about 10h of typical use while the QHD display reduces that time by about 2h.
Pro Reasonable matte screen
UX305FA offers two options for screens - FHD (1920x1080px) and QHD+ (3200x1800px). Both are IPS displays that offer great viewing angles.
Pro USB charging port
You can charge your phone, etc, from the dedicated USB charging port, even when the laptop is sleeping. By default, it will only keep charging while the laptop battery is above 20%.
Con Touchpad is not as accurate as on windows
Sadly like most newer laptops with Linux the touchpad sensitivity is too much, causing jumping mouse issues as well as inaccurate mouse actions. This of curse is caused by the lack of mouse drivers from the mousepad manufacturers leaving Linux devs to backwards engineer the drivers into the kernel. With time the mouse should get better, but is no help currently.
Con The build quality does not accurately reflect the price for this laptop
The Galago UltraPro is made of plastic. Even though it feels relatively good considering the materials it's built with, there's still some flex in the screen.
Con Keyboard is not backlit
Con Only 8GB RAM
8GB RAM is way too little these days (becoming completely hopeless if you happen to need VMs).
Con Poor color accuracy
According to tests performed by NotebookCheck.net, UX305FA has color accuracy issues that can be seen with the naked eye. A DeltaE deviation of over 3 can be easily noticed and the screen has a deviation of 6.5.
