YotaPhone vs BlackPhone

The back screen writes information in E-Ink, meaning it can display that information without draining the battery. Apps can be set to route incoming information, from, for example, social networks, to that screen.

YotaPhone's signature feature is the dual-screen. On one side it has a typical capacitive 1080p display on the other an ePaper display. On latest generation phones both displays are fully touch compatible.

BlackPhone is designed to protect you from government snooping and data mining by corporations or malicious attackers in a way that reduces your data footprint as much as possible through a combination of data encryption and system design choices.

BlackPhone includes and impressive array of privacy focused software and services that include:

• A two-year subscription to Silent Circle. Silent Circle allows private voice and video calling, text messaging and file sharing. Additionally it allows you to gift a years subscription to the service to three people.
• A two-year subsciption to Disconnect. Disconnect is a VPN (virtual private network) service that anonymizes your internet traffic and it also anonymizes search of the BlackPhones web browser.
• A two-year subsciption to SpiderOak. SpiderOak offers 5GB worth of cloud storage and sharing.

PrivatOS, the Android KitKat fork that's running on BlackPhone, includes Security Center that gives you great control of what information and with who or what should and should not be shared.

Of course BlackPhone is lagging behind the flagship phones of Apple, Samsung or HTC, but not by much. It has a 2GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra 4i CPU, a 720p display that's somewhat on the lower end. Other than that, it has good specs and a neutral design.
